Dear Well-wishers,

Nisvartha Foundation continued to progress on the committed path of supporting under privileged but academically inclined students. Current year with the strength of few more Corporate sponsors and continued support from individuals, the Foundation has been able to induct more students for scholarship. Nisvartha Foundation - Enabling Higher Education Since 2009 2

Update on Students / MentorsIt is indeed a great pleasure for me to share the efforts of the Students and Mentors with you all.

Let me begin the updates by thanking each

and every Volunteer, Sponsor, Mentor and all the donors, individuals who are supporting the endeavor of Nisvartha, year on year for being able to accomplish what Nisvartha is today.

We had a wonderful Annual Day celebration as the fi rst event in this Fiscal 2014-15, on Jun 15th, 2014. The event was well attended by a record 850+ including students, parents.

For the fi rst time the test for the committee to host such a big event, being fully managed by Volunteers alone, turned out to be another feather in the cap for Nisvartha. Guests of honor really expressed their happiness over seeing such a stupendous performance by Students of Nisvartha and also the arrangements right from Registration to Award ceremony followed by sumptuous lunch for all.

On the Annual day, which is basically to celebrate and Reward the high fl iers, a whopping 53 awards got distributed to the Toppers in various section under different category. This is a testimony of the Nisvartha Students’ accomplishments, which showcased 300 fold increase in terms of Rewards and Recognitions compared to the last year. It needs a special mention here that more than 10 students won Centum awards (scoring

100/100) in PUC 2.

We had a very tough time in shortlisting Students for Induction in to 2014-15 with respect to the number of Applications received. Around 350 plus applications were received from which, it was even tougher to select only 55 based on the fund fl ow forecast. There has been several students who are deprived of the support from Nisvartha just because of the challenge in mobilizing funds.

I REQUEST all - Corporates and Individuals to extend their fi nancial support in sustaining the expense in meeting the ambition of deserving students, especially considering steep hike in Fee structure for all streams including professional courses.

Srinivas Jayanth – Director, Mentor Program

Happy to share here that a couple of new

Mentors have willingly joined us to strengthen

the committee to hand hold and guide the

students in the right direction. Few of the

Mentors also got retired due to pre-occupation

and work pressure in the professional front.

As the number of students are increasing, it

is a necessity to have a web based Tool to

manage the back end operations of Students’

records. One of our Mentors with the help of a

designer has been working out the modalities

in developing such a tool to be put in to

operations shortly. This facilitates capturing

the students’ progress and ease of Reporting.

We also had an All Mentors’ meet, in August’14

to share the Goals of Mentor and also to align

our focus towards helping each and every

student of Nisvartha.

Again, I make humble request to the interested

individuals to help Nisvartha by becoming a

Mentor to reinforce operations. Thank you !

Nisvartha Foundation - Enabling Higher Education Since 2009 6

Nisvartha was started with handful of students five years ago. The strength is growing year on year with the patronage of corporate sponsors, individual donors and well-wishers. It is touching to see that elderly citizens have contributed to this initiative from their pension fund and few young children have made a donation from their pocket money. We are very grateful to every individual that has made a contribution in any capacity. We have made a huge commitment of running Nisvartha on Zero Administration cost. We continue to operate on this model although the capacity (number of students) increases year on year. What remains in constant in Nisvartha is its operating model, mentor program and holistic development of the student community. We hope to see the children of Nisvartha scaling to greater heights in the coming years!

Books and Stationery were distributed to all the Nisvartha Students. Fossil team had an interactive session with the students and distributed welcome kit to 15 students.

Nisvartha Foundation - Enabling Higher Education Since 2009 8

A “Nisvartha” day with children was spent on 9th July 2014 at HP EC1 Campus in true spirit of the word Nisvartha which means selflessness.

Over 125 students from two government schools took part in this event that was packed with fun, learning and most importantly, offered a unique experience to children and volunteers. The teaching staff who accompanied children to the campus were all praises for the green campus.

For children, it was a dream come true to have visited a place that they described it as “heaven on earth”.

Over 95% of the children studying in government schools are from low economic zones. Based on statistics, more than 80% of the children drop out of school after grade 10 due to fi nancial constraints. The most heartening part was that most of the government school drop-outs hold excellent academic track record. The prime reason why Nisvartha Foundation was formed in 2009 was to extend fi nancial support and mentorship to merited and underprevileged students from Government schools. As of today, over 351 students spread across 23 districts of Karnataka are pursuing higher education supported by Nisvartha.

Students participated in a drawing competition. The theme of the competition was “Ecological imbalance and its effect on nature”.

Visiting HP’s campus fuelled the dreams of students to pursue higher education and be part of an organization like HP in future. Nisvartha team is committed to conduct similar programs in the future.

Note Books and an English Grammar book to help students to have better skills in the language was provided to each and every student.

Students participated in an interactive session with HP volunteers on soft skills and made a note of quick tips on life skills. The program concluded with lunch.

Teachers and students conveyed their heartfelt thanks to HP for etching unforgettable moments in their minds!

Heartfelt thanks to HP Social Impact team for all the support. The volunteering team in HP is an asset that can make a difference to many.
