The mission of Nazarbayev

Intellectual School:

‘Our mission is to develop an intellectual community where all the members in the process of their development are motivated by ethical values,

intercultural understanding and appreciation of lifelong learning.’

The history of the school

In the Message of President Nursultan Nazarbayev to the people of Kazakhstan, determine the strategic development priorities of the country until 2030, noted that the leading

factor in economic and social breakthrough in the coming century are " people themselves, their will, energy , persistence and knowledge ," and the basic principle development of society in the twenty-first century will be the nation's competitiveness , is determined primarily by the level of education . One of the priorities of the state education policy in the country is to design innovative and adaptive , competency-based and professionally - oriented education system , aimed at support and development of children and youth as a priceless heritage and the main intellectual and creative potential of the state , able to take the key places in the government , economy, science and culture. From these positions developed and implemented a project to create 20 smart schools , whose mission - formation of a highly educated , intelligent person ready to make a conscious choice and a variety of professional development programs. Network of smart schools provide an opportunity to implement specific targets that will be a resource to ensure rapid development and implementation of the " Strategy of

Kazakhstan in the fifty most competitive countries of the world ." May 13, 2008 Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 452 created corporation "Orken " Wholly state participation in its authorized capital . The main activity of the company - is the creation and maintenance of the network of secondary schools within the project " 20 intellectual schools of the First President ."

September 1, 2010Nazarbayev Intellectual school of Chemistry and Biology was opened

July 12, 2011The decision about authorization of Nazarbayev Intellectual school of Chemistry and Biology in International Baccalaureate was made. In connection with flexibility of choice of learning model within International Baccalaureate (IB), the Chemistry and Biology profile was abolished, and the school was renamed to Nazarbayev Intellectual school of Astana city.

September 21, 2011The Memorandum of Mutual Understanding was signed between AOE “Nazarbayev Intellectual schools” and International Baccalaureate Organization

November 2011Nazarbayev Intellectual school of Astana city was assigned of the status ‘Candidate school’ for Diploma Programme authorization

April 2013Nazarbayev Intellectual school of Astana city was successfully authorized and received the status ‘World IB School’. This is only school in the net of Nazarbayev Intellectual schools which follows IB educational programme.

May 2, 2013Nazarbayev Intellectual school of Astana became candidate school for the Middle Years Programme.This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy – a commitment to high quality, challenging, and international education.
