KEY PROJECTSLow-grade Heat Engine Analysis (Final year Project)The engine consisted of a vapour screw engine that rotates via the buoyancy force of steam, whilst it is submerged in liquid. Through the use of steam tables, enthalpy values were determined and calculations of the work done by the steam at certain heights were produced. From this, I concluded the efficiencies as the steam rises through the container in a range of liquids.

Motorcycle Ambulance Trailer (Group Project)An existing ambulance trailer was to be redesigned to be smaller and provide rotation at ease. I was responsible for improving on the hitch’s ability to rotate as well as its simplicity to detach at will from the motorcycle. This included creating morphological charts, design matrices and conceptual designs before finalising the idea. I created a final 3D design using Solidworks which was combined with the other parts.

Tennis Ball Serving MachineA tennis ball serving machine was to be designed and manufactured to launch tennis balls into an area of a tennis court, by means of a gas cylinder that would exert pressure on the tennis ball, controlled by an electrical circuit. I was responsible for designing the circuit which required an understanding in components of the circuit.

SKILLSIT skills - Microsoft office: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and ExcelCAD program - Solidworks (intermediate) and AutoCAD (basic)Creative skills - Knowledge of drawing techniques and ability to do hand sketchesProblem solving - Maths problem solvingCommunication – Multiple group projects, presentations, reports and attended meetings. Time-Management – work schedule created and followed on the Crossrail project, completing tasks prior to the deadline.
