SUMMARY OF MEASUREMENTS

How much of the road width is available to the runners throughout the length of the road race course?The entire left Carriageway is available for runners from Start to U-turn point and back to Jehan Circle. From Jehan circle to ABB circle the entire width of the Right carriageway is available for runners.
If the route at turns cannot be described as the ‘shortest possible route’, explain what restrictions will apply, and how these would be enforced.Route is shortest possible route.
Which measurement was used to establish the final course length and why?
The course was measured once and this measurement was used to establish the final course distance after making the required post-calibration adjustment.

OVERVIEW OF THE MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE :
The course is measured using a calibrated bicycle fitted with a Jones Counter. The basis ofthe measurement is to compare the number of revolutions of the bicycle wheel (recordedin counts) neded to cover the race course with the number of revolutions needed to covera standard ‘calibration course’ of known length.
The following steps were followed :
1. We had a discussion with the organising team regarding the course. The course is in theform of a keyhole and has distance categories of Half-Marathon, 10 km, 5 km & 3 km.
2. We drove on the course from start to the tentative Half-Marathon U-turn point and back with GPS watch in order to understand the route and for a rough check of route distance.
3. The calibration course was selected on the previously defined and measured straight and flat section of Trimbak Road, from ABB Circle to Maharashtra Police Academy.

5. The measurement was started from the start point of and completed at the Finish Point of the Half-Marathon.
6. Post-calibration of the bicycle was done on the calibration course & Constant for the daywas established.
7. Adjustment was calculated for 10 km & Half-Marathon distance.
8. The Final U-Turn points for 10 km & Half-Marathon were established with tapeddistances from the reference permanent landmarks.
9. The measurement was documented.

DESCRIPTION OF THE ROUTE:
1. Start line for HM & 10km is located on North-bound carriageway of City Centre Road, Opp Thakkar Dome, Near ABB Circle, Nashik - 422007
2. After flag-off, HM & 10km runners run towards ABB Circle on the same carriageway (in the direction of the traffic).
3. Runners take right turn at ABB circle and run towards Trimbak Naka on the left carriageway.
4. Runners take left turn at Trimbak Naka and run towards Ashok stambh on Old Agra road on the left carriageway.
5. Runners run towards Gangapur on Gangapur Road on the left carriageway
6. 10 km runners take U-turn opp Bhonsala Military College Gate and return to start point on the same carriageway upto Jehan Circle.
7. Half-Marathon runners continue running on Gangapur Road, take u-turn after YCMOU junction and return to Jehan Circle on the same carriageway.
8. HM & 10km runners return to start point using the right carriageway (opposite to the direction of traffic).
