Master Schedule Concern
• Please help your students make their selections carefully. Schedule changes will be difficult to accommodate in fall due to class size and course availability.
• When students select courses, the Master Schedule is built upon these requests. Students who alter class choices create a drastic effect on the Master Schedule and class size.
Sophomore YearCourse Requirements
English Math Modern World History Science Physical Education or Elective Elective
Physical Education State Requirement
• All 9th graders are required to take P.E. or participate on an athletic team.
• All 9th graders are required to take and pass the Fitness Gram test in spring.
• Students who do not pass the fitness test in the 9th grade are required to take P.E. in the 10th grade and be retested.
• Although grad. requirements are met after the completion of 20 P.E. credits, students who do not pass the fitness test in the 10th grade must take P.E. in the 11th grade.
• Students who do not pass the fitness test in the 11th grade must take P.E. in the 12th grade.
• California Education Code states: • Students not passing 5/6 sections on the FitnessGram in 9th grade must be enrolled in a physical education class until the test(s) has been passed.
• After passing the FitnessGram, students meeting the 2-‐year requirement may opt out of PE class
• Testing is done annually
