Our Newsletter front this week is shared with us by Mrs Lisa Freeth

(Parishioner & APRE at St Peter’s Primary School and some the

School Students.

The Solemnity of St Mary of the Cross is celebrated on 8 August and this

year is particularly special because it is the 10-year anniversary since she

was canonised as Australia’s first Saint.

Mary’s canonisation has become a powerful impetus for many people

around the world in their efforts to recognise God in all of creation and

especially those of the human family who are dispossessed and

marginalised. Her spirit seems to act as a magnet for all who seek God.

St Peter’s is one of many Catholic schools established by the Sisters of St

Joseph, the congregation founded by Mary Mackillop. As a school with a strong

Josephite charism, Mary Mackillop holds a special place in our hearts as we

continue to be inspired to ‘never see a need without doing something about it’.

This year, St Peter’s has adopted the mantra ‘Inspired 2020’ with many of our

students drawing upon the wisdom of Saint Mary Mackillop as their source of

inspiration. Here are just a few of them.

“St Mary Mackillop inspires me to help the poor. She even started

schools to help others who couldn’t afford it”. (Eliza, Year 4)

St Mary Mackillop was a great role model and a great woman who

helped people in need”. (Sophie, Year 4)

Mary Mackillop Inspires me because she helped the poor. She

went without food because she cared about everyone’s education

more”. (Denielle, Year 4)

Mary Mackillop is inspiring to me because she never stopped

helping others”. (Jessica, Year 4)

Congratulations to

Patricia & Neil Clunes

who celebrate their 50th

Wedding Anniversary this weekend.

PARISH MASSES FOR THE

FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION

There will be a Mass at 9am on Sat 15th

August at all our Parish Churches. For

attendance please phone or email the

Office by no later than Wednesday as

numbers will be limited.

New Planned Giving Envelopes

Our new Planned Giving Envelopes will be available at

the end of this month. We would like to take this

opportunity to thank you for your continued generosity.

Planned Giving is the life blood of the Parish, it enables

us to budget for both the Pastoral and Administrative

needs of our Parish. What our plan is over the next few

weeks is to put the envelopes out in batch lots rather

than to have them all out at the back of the churches as

is happened in the past. So if you belong to our program

and you know you are attending church, please ask the

monitors if your envelopes are available for you to

collect. All envelopes not collected will be posted out

after we are sure that those attending Mass have received

them. We would like to bring to your attention

alternative ways that you might like to consider your

giving. Using Direct Debit from your nominated bank

account or Credit Card payments are a convenient way of supporting the Parish in that it’s consistent and fuss free. We

have had an increased number of Parishioners take up this option over the past few month and we thank them for this.

One off monthly/yearly payments can be done through the Office as well, so please give Kath a call if you would like to

take up this method. Again thank you for your support both financially and prayerfully.

Please Remember in Your Prayers
