“The patent pending Nimbus System, created in April 2010, is an extremely versatile, revolutionary fire fighting tactic. It can deal with most fire incidents more effectively than existing systems. Using very little water and relying on the scientifically proven misting technique, there is minimal or no water damage and no dirty water run off. Most significantly, it will save fire fighters' lives by eliminating backdraft and flashover”.

Whether it is responding to emergencies in a city, town, village or very rural area there is always the same problem, how to get there quickly with effective equipment to make a positive impact on the emergency.
Rapid Intervention Vehicles if designed properly can make that difference, NIMBUS Fire units carry state of the art fire fighting equipment that can have a dramatic effect on fires, in many cases it will deal with the incident completely or control the situation until a larger vehicle with more resources can arrive. Because they use water scientifically and sparingly with no expensive additives and are designed with simplicity in mind, NIMBUS Fire units are capable of getting nearly anywhere and getting to work quickly.
Training is minimal, servicing and maintenance easy NIMBUS Fire is a cost effective solution.
Fire engines have been described as ‘Swiss Army knives on wheels’, rapid intervention vehicles can also provide responses to many types of emergencies. Our VW 4x4 Transporter carries the NIMBUS Fire 300bar with cold cutting along with basic water rescue equipment, medical trauma kit with defibrillator, oxygen and spinal management equipment plus hydraulic combi tool with various tools to make access into motor vehicles and extricate casualties.
The RIV is also fitted with scene lighting and various placeable warning lights and road cones. Perhaps a smaller Swiss army knife but one with attitude.
The VW and Gator RIVs are fitted with the 300bar 30L/min ultra high pressure pump giving phenomenal fire fighting capability but not all vehicles are capable of carrying 120kg pump units plus water, etc., that is why we introduced the LITE which is 250 bar 16L/min and weighs in at 60kg. Both units have cold cutting for compartment fires including freight containers. The LITE is ideal for vehicles that have a dual role like recovery or highways vehicles or even hand or electric carts in buildings.

COMPARTMENT
The NIMBUS cutting lance rapidly penetrates most materials injecting a fine spray into the fire compartment.
Temperatures drop dramatically Back draught risk is removed Safety of personnel and the survivability of
casualties is greatly improved
HIGH RISE
With a 90 metre operating height the Nimbus system is ideal for high rise incidents. If the door to the compartment is secure, the cutting lance is used to inject the fine mist. When in doubt an adjoining wall can provide access or, if really necessary, an attack can be made from the floor below. The portable unit can also be taken to bridgehead.
OPEN AND CAR FIRES
The general purpose lance is used for this type of fire
and its efficiency is “dramatic” and “astounding”. The
minimal water use preserves evidence on the scene
where necessary and there is minimal or no water
damage or contaminated run off.

Rapid Intervention Vehicles are able to get to incidents where ever they are and with NIMBUS have a credible attack on fires whether they are open or enclosed. Because of the science of the tactic,
NIMBUS mist is suitable for all types of fire including hydrocarbon and electricity.
At NIMBUS we do everything to meet your needs by offering a slightly bespoke service so that our system will fit nearly any vehicle or application.
So, the decision is yours, do you want a NIMBUS system on a dedicated fire truck which could also
provide a medical response, or road accident response? Your choice.
Do you have a maintenance vehicle that does its day to day job of keeping trucks serviced or
roads repaired but could also provide an effective fire fighting response?
Of course rapid response can also mean a small hand or electric cart used in shopping centres,
hospitals, museums, art galleries, etc.
Rapid response can also mean fitted to a building like a high rise hotel giving rapid intervention at
each floor or area.
What ever the need, NIMBUS can provide a cost effective solution. Seeing is believing and the
system really has NO LIMTS.
Rapid Intervention Vehicles can be multi role depending on end user needs

What you have is a small vehicle capable of life saving at fires, road accidents, other accidents, water rescue and the capability to deal with both compartment and open fires effectively. Small vehicle with a
big effect.
What ever the vehicle NIMBUS Fire can provide a solution.
Often a fire service may wish to upgrade existing fire trucks to carry a high pressure water mist unit with cold cutting capability.
There are several options available: * A NIMBUS unit with engine can be fitted
into a space. * If a vehicle has spare power take off
position(s) the high pressure pump can be directly fitted using the vehicles water tank.
* A hydraulic drive can be fitted which in turn will drive the high pressure pump
* A NIMBUS Portable unit can be fitted into a locker which can be run in the vehicle or transferred to another vehicle, boat, or taken virtually anywhere it is needed. Ideal to provide fire cover when the carrying vehicle is off the run due to mechanical issues or accident damage.
* The hose reel can be mounted on the upper internal surface of any locker

Roof Using the Nimbus prop lance a fine water mist fills the roof void controlling or preventing the
spread of the fire.
Thatch The roof void is cooled without water damage whilst the thatch itself is cut or penetrated by
another NIMBUS unit Conventional fire fighting cannot prevent extensive damage by fire and water.

The NIMBUS FAMILY - we aim to make effectiveness our aim and by providing the same capability unit but on different vehicles or platforms it ensures that we can meet the customers needs.
The INTEGRAL is a fill with water and the engine with petrol and you have a fully functional fire fighting unit ready to go and provide an immediate 16 minutes of fire fighting but when connected to a water supply time is no issue. Built in stainless steel and capable of being lifted by crane or fork lift and will fit in most vans and 4x4 pick ups it is a brilliant solution to fire fighting response. Its construction enables switching vehicles easily and will stand the day to day knocks in a busy and hard working environment.
The PORTABLE and Engine mounted fixed system - the same fire fighting capability but can either be fitted in a vehicle as a portable unit to enable easy movement to aircraft or boat or the unit can be fixed to nearly any vehicle. The type of vehicle will depend on what the customer requires for a response in emergencies. Obviously the more equipment required by the customer the bigger the vehicle. We have found that for rapid response a Renault or VW style van is ideal. The engine is mounted with 80m electric rewind hose reel, pump and around 250L water tank and racking to enable other items like medical or road accidents equipment (or both) to be carried. Small ladders can also be carried.
The SAFARI UNIT - again manufactured from stainless steel, a 110cm x 110cm unit with 30m manual hose reel and same fire fighting capability. Similar to the INTEGRAL but smaller with a 200L water tank and able to fit small vehicles. The unit is also manufactured so that the tank, engine and pump and hose reel are modular for ease of movement for any operational reason.
Fitted here on a John Deere Gator (can be JCB or Polaris) go anywhere 4x4 vehicle makes this an ideal unit for areas that are difficult errain or restricted access like storage sheds, ships holds, container areas, etc.
Our commitment has meant a continual development not only in the quality of our products but for tactical fire fighting. Our latest development which is a cold cutting head and supply of abrasive on a operational head of 4 electro magnets to deal with fires within a freight container or through a ships bulk head enabling fire fighting to be undertaken in safety. An early test on a cylinder is at http://youtu.be/T4QqzJID_9s
With a supply of abrasive adjacent to the cutting head, this unit can be operated remotely and safely.

ceAt NIMBUS Fire we have been proud of our continuing development and now the new cold cutting lance is launched. With its vessel in place it provides that first response cut and fire fighting into a compartment which will eliminate backdraught and control the situation if not extinguish the fire. Because NIMBUS is not aggressive it can be used even when there are persons reported and there is no danger of keeping the water mist running whilst fire fighters enter the compartment making a cooler safer area to work in.
For longer and vertical cuts we have designed a docking system for the lance so in seconds the abrasive vessel is off and the continuous flow adaptor is on. The spear is then placed in a container of abrasive ready for fire fighting.

Simple on/off valve so that abrasive and cutting is instantaneous - ideal fro sandwich panel and multi cuts.

Compartment fires with Tyne & Wear and East Sussex Fire Services
Both compartment fires using a fire behavior unit reached the temperature of 750C. Both were dealt with using approximately 50L water in 1m 45s lowering the temperature to 100C and totally removing the risk of backdraught. The live fire at Bedfordshire was not as hot, but again was dealt with effectively and quickly. None of the fires necessitated the opening of any windows or doors.

WILDLAND
Sutton Park WMFS and Apeeldoorn Holland (Dutch Fire Service), live fires dealt with quickly and with the added bonus of being able to penetrate peat type ground to a depth of 2m>
Sandwich Panel
Because the abrasive can be switched on or off instantaneously, NIMBUS can either cut straight through to deal with a compartment fire or by turning off the abrasive it can deal with an internal fire.
