NILES FOUNDATIONS DONATES TO NILES FAMILY MEMBER AFTER HOUSE FIRE

January 16, 2017 - Glen Rodden, a valued Niles Industrial Coatings team member, lost his home and family to a house fire. Rodden escaped the fire, but is currently in critical condition suffering with burns over 75-percent of his body from trying to save his family. Due to the extent of the fire, the firefighters would only fight the blaze from outside of the home. Glen lost his son-in-law, daughter and two grandsons in the house fire.

The Niles Foundation Executive Committee has come together and has decided to make our first quarter donation to Glen’s cause. The donation will aid in medical bills as well as helping Glen rebuild his life.

PROJECT SNAPSHOTS

UPCOMING EVENTS

Recently Niles cleaned, prepped, insulated and repainted an 8,500 sq foot warehouse space. This is a

good project to highlight because it showcases many of the services we provide. The crew removed the old

insulation and used foam to re-insulate the walls. Hot water pressure washing was used to clean and remove oil from the concrete floor. The floor was then

sandblasted to achieve the proper profile. Compressed air was then used to clean the ceiling and walls. The Niles team painted the walls, columns, bay doors and man doors, and also coated

the floors with epoxy. When that was completed, the gas and airlines we painted and labeled. Finally, the

electrical panels we painted Ansi Grey. Several Niles team members helped with this project and it looks great!

Please welcome our new Safety Director, Gino Soave, to the Niles Family!

Gino is retired after 25 year of working in the service. While serving, he was assigned to duties such as K9 handler and trainer, narcotics, dignitary protection, Joint Terrorism Task force, and various military support units. After September 2001, Gino was selected for and graduate from the DHS/FEMA incident command school. It was there where he began specializing in Domestic & International Emergency Management. He responded to and helped manage things, such as: natural, man made disasters, terrorism, airplane crashes, weapons of mass destruction, chemical agent warfare, emergency response, rescue and recovery efforts. In 2010, Gino retired and focused his civilian education & training on Occupational Safety & Health specific to the construction industry. He is a certified OSHA outreach instructor and teaches for various Trade schools like the Associated Builders College (ABC). He sits on the safety board of directors for ABC & CAM.

Statement from Gino

Before coming to Niles, I worked for a General Contractor as their safety director. Prior to that I traveled around the country teaching OSHA classes and working as a Safety Consultant. I enjoy working with and meeting the men and woman in the field. I openly embrace the fact that every day challenges me with different perspectives, priorities and tasks. I knew when I first met the “Niles” executive team & family, that I would really enjoy being part of their TEAM. I’m blessed to have been greeted and welcomed with such open arms, great help and compassion.

I am the middle of 3 brothers Antonio and Nino. I have been married for over 10 years to my wonderful wife Sarah. I am a proud father of 4 children (20, 18, 18 and 8). My hobbies include power boating on the Great Lakes, skiing, traveling, coaching hockey, golf and spending quality time with my family. I speak fluent Italian and some Spanish. I grew up in a Union construction family my whole childhood. I enjoy volunteering my spare time with The Michigan Children’s Epilepsy Foundation, Helmets to Hardhats, & Christian Charities.

I would like to personally thank Ryan, Dan, Scott & Dave for giving me the opportunity to be part of the TEAM and to everyone here that has been so kind to welcome me. I look forward to growing every day so I can adequately fulfill my duties and responsibilities. I feel blessed to be here and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone in the company. Happy 2018!

ENCHANTED MAKEOVERS

You can make the difference for Niles team members, their families, and the community by participating in the Niles Foundation: Wish Program. With your help, we hope to make more wishes come true this year!

WHY should I give?We want to make sure that every team member, their family, and the community is supported during a time of need. We want to do everything we can to make this year as stress-free as possible for those who may be having difficulties or who are in need of help.

For years, the Niles Foundation has been a benefactor and generous donor to several public and private organizations. Over the years, “NF” has helped with such needs as Enchanted Makeovers in Taylor MI, focusing on the remodeling of abused and/or homeless women’s shelters, providing them a safe and comfortable place to stay. Along with working with private organizations, we have also been directly involved with the public in the repairing and fixing of community parks and resurfacing area tennis courts. One of their more recent, and notable, personal contributions was to come to the financial aid of a co-worker/employee who was diagnosed with a life altering disease to help assist with their medical bills.

HOW can I help?There are several ways to participate in the Niles Foundation - Wish Program:

Recurring Donations: See your supervisor to fill out an authorization form for

recurring donations to the Wish Program. Hourly and salary team members are welcome to donate. The donation will be taken out of each paycheck. Team members are able to chose the amount that is deducted.

Example of Hourly Donations:$0.05, $0.10, $0.15, $0.20, $0.25, etc.

$0.05 per hour x 80 hours = $4.00 biweekly donated

Example of Salary Donations:$5, $10, $15, $20, $25, etc.

$5 per week x 2 weeks = $10.00 biweekly donated

One-Time Donations: See your supervisor to fill out an authorization form for a one-time donation. The donation will be taken out of your paycheck one time.

Submitting Wishes: Please see your supervisor to submit a wish to be granted. All wishes for Niles Family Members and surrounding community efforts will be accepted. The Executive Committee will decide whether or not the wish will be granted. *Please note, all wishes will be kept confidential and anonymous, if requested.

TEAM MEMBER ADDING VALUE: Lacey duusMy name is Lacey Duus and I have been with Niles since 2015. I just recently took on the new position of Safety Rep up here in Midland. I am looking forward to the new endeavor and learning experience. I previously worked in the field with everyone as a Safety Attendant so the transition has been a positive change. I’m dedicated to making sure that everyone gets to go home to their families at night. I want to thank everyone for helping make this transition so smooth by helping me learn and being patient with the learning process. We have an amazing group up here!

I like to spend my spare time with my teenage daughter, Lillie and my long-time boyfriend, Jeremy or working on my side business-I am a huge makeup/skin care enthusiast! I enjoy anything outdoors-when it’s not cold and spending quality time with my family. I am originally from Iowa and come from a HUGE family so anytime I can head back there, I surely do!

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENTA MESSAGE ON LEADERSHIP TOOLS

Team,

As we enter the new year, I want to focus on our goals for 2018. My main focus is to continue to invest in you, the Niles Family! This January, I spent a week in Boston at Harvard University studying company strategy and leadership. Each day consisted of about 15 hours of studying and learning. I am now back and recharged! I am excited to share the information I learned with each one of you.

On Monday, January 29th, we had a meeting with some of the top Niles Leaders in Fenton to share some of the content that I learned in Boston. This was a great chance to go over the company strategy, job site tools, and leadership tools. One item we discussed, as you will see on page 8 of the newsletter, was the concept of being a Boss vs. a Leader. Please take a look at the info graphic and see where you fall! We strive for every Niles Team Member to be a leader. I hope to share more educational and leadership tools with you throughout the year.
