I am so excited to introduce Deepa Kingry to our Christ the King community. Deepa is our new Facilitator of Junior High and High School Youth Ministry (Youth Minister for short). I know you will be just as excited as Father Scott and I are about this great new blessing to our Youth Ministry program at Christ the King. I’ll let Deepa speak for herself now…

Hello, my name is Deepa Kingry. I was born in Georgia, and have always wanted to be a youth minister. Here are some facts about me: ∗ After driving across the country in December, I have now driven through 42

states! ∗ This Thanksgiving was the first time I prepared the meal. For missionaries from

NET (National Evangelization Teams). All from scratch. ∗ Speaking in Spanish sounds better in my head than when it comes out of my

mouth. Please engage me in conversation. ∗ Organizing things gives me a high, almost as much as receiving Jesus in the Eucharist! I rest in the promise you made that // You will remain forever faithful and I will follow You. These lyrics to “I Will Follow You” by Kristene DiMarco reveal how I’ve lived my life since encountering Christ in the Eucharist as a high school sophomore. When God calls me to step out in faith, I go! For He is with me always, so why would I fear anything? O Beauty ever ancient, ever new, late have I loved you! You were within me, but I was outside, and it was there that I searched for you. This quote is from St. Augustine. I have always felt like he’s my older brother, giving great advice and encouraging me not to make the same mistakes he made. In college, I faltered for a time. But, then, through a chance encounter with the Sacrament of Reconciliation, I ran back into the arms of Jesus. Since then, it has been a whirlwind adventure. God is very faithful and generous. Living a life with Him has never been boring. From Hillsong’s “One Thing”: Everything I have means nothing // Jesus, if You’re not my one thing. God called me to youth ministry 15 years ago -- six years as a CORE member and nine years as a youth minister. A French Jesuit priest, Pierre Teillhard de Chardin is quoted saying, “Joy is the infallible sign of the presence of God.” It’s truly a joy experiencing the blessing of seeing teens, young adults, and adults live out the discipleship Christ invites them to. It is true, life as a youth minister is anything but normal. If ever there were a zombie apocalypse, I would probably not run out of coffee! I am comfortable up to my eyeballs in mud crawling through a messy obstacle course, as well as interceding for the teens, parents, CORE, and parish. I truly feel called by God to be here at Christ the King! Only time will tell what His plan will entail. I’m ready for the adventure! Let’s go and be missionaries together! In Christ,

Rev. Matthew Henry

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below. Praise Him above, ye heav’nly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen.

All hail, adored Trinity! All hail, eternal Unity! O God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit, ever One.

Three persons praise we evermore, One only God our hearts adore; In Thy sure mercy, ever kind, may we Your strong protection find.

O Trinity! O Unity! Be present as we worship Thee: And with the songs that angels sing unite the hymns of praise we bring.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION Text: Lectionary for Mass © 1997,1981, 1968, ICEL. Music: Jarrod Townsend Inspired by "Alleluia" by Tom Booth © 1996 OCP Pub. All Rights Reserved

THE BAPTISM OF THE LORD (THE HEAVENS WERE OPENED) Jarrod Townsend © 2014

Elizabeth wanted a child, to love, to have, and to hold, But her dreams would fade away as her body grew old.

Zechariah wanted a son, to raise, to guide, to behold He couldn't believe the gift he'd receive, so in silence he did as he was told.

John danced in the womb, for his cousin, his savior, the Lord. By grace he was given the Spirit so he could baptize the Word.

And the heavens were opened, and the Holy Spirit came down, And at last we see the Trinity, Father, Spirit, Son.

John lived in the wild preaching the need for repentance from sin. He called us to the water to cleanse ourselves from sin.

Jesus had come to serve to give his life for love. What we see on that day in the Jordan is the blessing from above.

And the voice of the Father thundered: This is my son, My beloved son with whom I am well pleased, listen to Him.

COMMUNION ANTIPHON Jn 1: 32, 34 Behold the One of whom John said:

I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.

BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD Matt Maher © 2005 Thankyou Music / spiritandsong.com

You are my Lord. It’s You I adore, And nothing on earth could ever take Your place. Your might humbles every heart, the highest of heavens bow, And nothing on earth could ever take Your place.

And now we see Your Sacrifice, Your greatest gift, our greatest price.

Behold the Lamb of God! Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world!

We will not forget; we will stay awake! We will not abandon the promise that You made!

COME TO THE WATER John Foley © 1978, 2006 New Dawn Music Admin. By OCP

O, let all who thirst, let them come to the water. And let all who have nothing, let them come to the Lord: Without money, without price. Why should you pay the price, except for the Lord?

And let all who seek, let them come to the water. And let all who have nothing, let them come to the Lord: Without money without strife. Why should you spend your life, except for the Lord?

And let all who toil, let them come to the water. And let all who are weary, let them come to the Lord: All who labor without rest. How can your soul find rest, except for the Lord?

And let all the poor, let them come to the water. Bring the ones who are laden, bring them all to the Lord: Bring the children without might. Easy the load and light: come to the Lord.

I will run to you, I will run to you, I will run to you, my Lord.

WADE IN THE WATER Refrain text: Spiritual. Verses text: © 1993 M.D. Ridge; OCP

Wade in the water. Wade in the water, children. Wade in the water. God’s gonna trouble the water.

Cantor: John was preaching by the shores of Jordan stream. All: God’s gonna trouble the water. Cantor: “Repent of your sins and let the water wash you clean.” All: God’s gonna trouble the water.

Jesus came to be baptized by John, and when it was done… All: God’s gonna trouble the water. A voice from the heavens said: “This is my beloved Son.” All: God’s gonna trouble the water.

“My favor rests upon him,” said a voice from above. All: God’s gonna trouble the water. The crowd saw the Spirit in the form of a snow-white dove. All: God’s gonna trouble the water.

Come to the river where the living waters rise. All: God’s gonna trouble the water. If you want to follow Jesus, you must come and be baptized. All: God’s gonna trouble the water.

Hola, me llamo Deepa Kingry.

O Belleza tan antigua y tan nueva, tarde te amé!

In Christ,
