Volunteer News Annual Volunteer Training Extravaganza New day of the week, new room, same great training for volunteers! Thursday afternoon May 2, we will gather to hear guest speakers, do activities and enjoy dinner together. The training is from 1:00-5:00 in San Luis Obispo, in the building behind our central kitchen at the county health campus. This is our 11 th annual training extravaganza. It is the BEST opportunity for any volunteer for the program to come and learn about the big picture and the little details that make the program run. I promise that no matter how long you have been volunteering you will learn something worthwhile. This includes; hosts in the dining room, folks who help pack the home delivered meals, the drivers who deliver meals, those who serve in the dining room, clean up helpers and PAC members. Volunteers are REQUIRED to receive annual training. You can learn everything you need at the meeting. The alternative is reading the policies and taking a quiz. I know which one I would choose. If it has been a year or two since you came, come for a refresher course. Every year, the folks that come are surprised that it is so fun. Come check it out! Your site manager has the information and a sign-up sheet. Sign-ups do help us order enough food for dinner for all that attend the training. Come join us! Wendy Fertschneider, R.D.
