NAL holds 2012 Annual Lecture The 2012 edition of the Annual Lecture Series holds at the Main Auditorium, University of Ilorin on Thursday 26 th April, 2012 at 10am. The Annual Lecture entitled: Nigeria and The Road to Nationhood, will be delivered by Professor Muhammad Nur Alkali, Director, Centre for Trans-Saharan Studies, (University of Maiduguri). Prof. M. Nur Alkali is a former Vice Chancellor (University of Maiduguri), former Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee (PAC) and former Director- General, National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS). Highlights of 2011 Convocation and the Investiture Ceremony NAL held its 13 th Convocation and the Investiture Ceremony of Fellows at the Main Auditorium, University of Lagos on Thursday 11 th August, 2011 at 11am. The Convocation Lecture entitled: Nigeria and the Curse of Elections, was delivered by Professor Emeritus Akinjide Osuntokun, FNAL. The investiture ceremony of: (i) four new Regular Fellows: Prof. Bamidele Rotimi Badejo, Prof. Agwonorobo Enaeme Eruvbetine, Prof. Abiola Odejide and Prof. Ayodeji Olukoju, (ii) two Honorary Fellows: Alagba Adebayo Faleti and Dr. Reuben Abati, also took place as part of the festivities. A scientific session earlier planned for 3pm at the same venue, had to be re-scheduled for 4pm. A paper presented by Prof. David Tuesday Adamo, FNAL, on ‘Politics and Religion’ generated a lively discussion. and an updated Membership List have both

been posted recently. All are invited to

visit the site regularly.

2012 Fellows’ Night This year’s Fellows’ Night will be held, as

usual, on the eve of Convocation at 8.00pm

at Functions Room, University of Lagos. It

may be recalled that at the 2011 Fellows’

Night, the Guest Speaker, Mr. Gamaliel

Onosode, FNAL (Pro-Chancellor & Chairman,

Governing Council, University of Lagos)

delivered a very stimulating speech on his

personal experiences in public life.

Prof. Adetokunbo Babatunde Sofoluwe, Vice

Chancellor, University of Lagos, was also

present at the occasion.

2012 Convocation Dinner The usual NAL Convocation Luncheon will

be replaced by a Convocation Dinner this

year. It is hoped that participants will stay on

for the dinner after the scientific session,

which is expected to hold between 3 and 6pm.

NAL Elections 2012 Elections to fill the following positions in

Executive Committee of NAL: President, Vice

President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary,

Treasurer, General Editor and four ex-officio

Members have been arranged as follows:
