    of

    the

    Ray Oarnahan

    i n

the Pomona church. He also s e n t the information

    And

    Paul will

    t h a t

    he has h i s

    We have

    ano ther ma tt er

    t h a t we

    want

    to w r i t e t t o

    you about.

    The

    preacher

    of Tanabe

    has prepared

    h i s

    autobiography and wants

    it

    published

    and

    the proceeds

    of

    t h i s p ut h im se lf through school i n nraerica. V/e f e e l

    t h a t

    he i s a lr e ad y th e b e s t

    preacher we

    have

    here

    on th e

    f i e l d . He

    has

    n6t

said anything to us about it but has been corresponding direct ly

with Cha rle s Matthew of

    the

    Creighton Ave

    church

    in Ft. Wayne

    Ind, who

    t o

    giving

    him

    support .

    They f e e l t h t he

    t h i n k s

    t h a t e i t h e r

    the m i n i s t e r

    himself or

    the church

    could finance

    the

    thin g to

    have

    i t published.

    N e i t h e r a r e a b l e

    t o do

    s o and we

    h e e i t a t e t o

    use m i s s i o n f u n d s

    f o r tw o

    reasons.

    I f

    we do

    so

    for him then w would

    be

    putt ing ourselves i n a

    p o s i t i o n

t h a t we would have to help any

    other

    Japanese who decided t o

    do l ikewise. And

    t h i s

would be a source of jealous among t he people.

    We have to watch

    t h i s fhing

    so

    close ly among

    them d o n t

    do

    for one what

    you

    aren t

    prepared

    to

    do

    fo r a l l .

    Second reason and

    this is not ready

f or pub li cahl on

    yet .

    That

    a

    worker

    may

    be

    coming to

    the

    Tanabe

    f i e l d

    soon and the

    funds

    will be needed in

    this

    respect. The plans

    are

    just in

    the making so v/e

    can t publish i t

    yet .

    I f t h i s looks l ike i t might be well to have pub li shed both

    from

    the

    s tandpoint of what it would c o n t r i b u t e to missions which Brother Matthews

feels i t v^ould then we have the problem of financing i t . Do you know of

    anything

    t h a t

you can offer in the l i n e of suggestions? I have never

    published a

    book

    but I know t h a t i t

    costs

    mor^ey. I know t h a t severi l

    missions have published books but

    what they

    did with the

    proceedi

    I

    don t

    Imow bi^

    suppose

    that i t went back

    into mission

    work ny

    ideas

    that

    you

    might ^11

    be most

    welcome

    because

    we are starting with

    none.

    The chi ldren think

    they

    should

    give

    us

    plenty o f

    v a r i e t y

    i n

    l i f e

    so t h e y

    manage

    one way

    o r another

    t o s u - p l y it This noon

    because she

has learned t o climb before

    she

    walks,

    i found Martha Ann s i t t i n g iup

    i n

    the d ish

    cupboard,

    with

an impis h smile on her

    f a c e . But

    then

    you

    being

    a

    f a t h e r

    o f f i v e

    should be a b l e t o a p p r e c i a t e such

    a

    s t u n t .

    We are on th e

    o u t s k i r t s

of TlTyphoon Ilargie we have had a

    good

    breeze

    t h a t

    l a s t three

    days and looks

    rainyvbut as yet

    none

    had come.

    Thanky

    you f o r a l l your

    help.

    This

    is

    the

    next

    morning

    Bid

I say that the children liked

    to give s plent '

    of variety?

    Last

    nite a robber

    came back

for the second time. .6 nites

    ao o

    he

    came into the

    dinning

    room and

    took two

    of Paula

    white

    ahi-ts and a pair of

his trousers. e think that he came another

    time

and got a pair of Paul d shoes

    anyway they are gone, last

    nite

    he was after shoes.

    And

    Paul saw

    him

    come to

the window the first time and raised his

    head

    and evedently the robber

    saw

    him.

    About

    an

    hour

    later he

    cane

    back

    and

    was

    on

    the floor

    besides

    the

    bed

    picking

    up

    the shoes when

    Paul

    woke

    up

and made a dive for him he aliped on the rug

and the robber got part way out of the

    window,

    I

    heard

    the Tioise and thot some

    one was having a

    real

    nite

    raare

    so went

    in

    -and saw Paul

    trying

    to hold the

    man

    at the

    window

so T went over and ^^tarted to beat up on the guy and Paul said

    don t

    do

    that

    help

    me

    pull

    him

    inside.

    So

    I

    gave

    a pull too

    and

    got

    him

    inside.

Then I turned the light on and called the man who

    we

    have working for us.

    He

    came

    and they held

    him

    while the

    inaid and

    I ran

    down

    the hill for the

    police.

He had Faulda white shirt and

    trousers

    on

    that

    h had- stolen 6

    nites

    before.

    I had to

    read
