A single camera production is simply a piece of media either a music video or film shot with a single camera. These are usually low budget films and usually involves a lot of editing during scenes with multiple characters having conversations and such. The advantages of using single camera production is mainly that scenes don’t have to be shot in sequence therefore more detailed and with more of a dramatic effect that can be added in editing, it’s much cheaper and easier to function, move and setup than the multi camera setup. Also, it allows only for one take.What are the potential problems or issues with the style of shooting?

The cons are most problematic aspects of shooting with a single-camera production is that you can only get one angle at a time, editing the product will take more time. What is multi camera production and why is it used? Multi camera is used for a variety of different reasons, for example multi camera could be used so that less editing is used, because when using multi camera, it allows for editing on the fly, which is basically editing as you go along, whereas if it wasn't multi camera then an editor would have to come in and do lots of work. What are the benefits of multi camera production?Opposed to a multi-camera approach, where you can edit certain sequences, angles and scenes based on the camera that was shooting. The quality of the camera wouldn't be that clear or realistic. Such as live events, simply using many camera will allow different shots to happen; such as sports, it would be very difficult to use the single camera. Editing – It will not be necessary to use time and money editing as this will have been done during production using a vision mixing desk.What are the potential problems or issues with the style of shooting?Cost – Initially equipment costs were what prevented multi-camera set ups from being used. However in recent years equipment costs have lowered. Multi-camera may in some cases be the cheaper option nowadays if you consider the amount of money spent on locations, crew, and actors in a much longer single camera production. Lighting compromises – It will take a lot longer to light a multi-camera shoot than it would a single camera production because more of the scene will be on show. A better lighting set up would be achieved if the cinematographer only had to focus on how the scene would look from one camera angle. Also it is important to remember there are more people on set and avoid placing lights in places that could cast shadows across a scene.
