Preface This document describes the new features for the General Availability release of Nextiva 5.1. Included

in these release notes are lists of enhancements made to the software since Nextiva 5.0 SP2 was

made public in April, 2007.

Nextiva 5.1 New Feature Set Nextiva 5.1 is the latest release of Verint’s industry-leading video management platform. The new features implemented in this release provide customers with a flexible and adaptable video management solution for optimum operation, configuration, and usability. The sections that follow provide a brief summary of these enhancements.

Camera Tampering Detection Camera Tampering Detection is the latest analytic feature introduced in Nextiva, and is available on a number of our edge device encoders. This feature improves the overall reliability of your camera security system by automatically detecting the most common causes of unusable images, for example: when a camera loses its focus (OoF), or when the camera is fully or partially blocked.

Nextiva Review Smart Client Nextiva Review is now available as a Smart Client application. Smart Client technology offers Review users the following advantages:

Easy installation and deployment of Nextiva Review over the local area network

Automatic software updates without user action

Same look and feel of desktop applications

Review Improvements

Nextiva Review is now easier to operate and use, as we have enhanced and optimized workflow functions and controls by implementing the following features:

Time preference format AM/PM or 24H

Quick query

Hot keys

8x video playback

Retention time between queries

Object Video 4.0 Integration Nextiva supports Verint edge devices that have the latest Object Video 4.0.1 firmware installed. The Nextiva Enterprise IntelliView option also supports Object Video analytics, version 4.0.

The new analytic functions and user improvements in this release are:

Object Tracker—Keeps track of objects for longer periods of time while they are moving or dormant, providing better accuracy in a crowded environment

Applying Filters by Rule—Filters can be configured on a rule-by-rule basis

Salience Filters (shape and directional filters)—This feature offers the ability to filter out random objects and movement, such as foliage moving in the wind, flag waving, sun glare on the water, or wake of a boat on the water

Left Behind Events—The minimum insertion time required before an object is determined to be “left behind” can be defined in the system

Audio Support Nextiva Enterprise supports unidirectional synchronized audio for live and playback video.

The following functions are implemented:

Export of audio along with the video

Audio support with IntelliStream, the Nextiva virtual matrix

Audio support using the Nextiva Client SDK

Supports three compression modes: PCM, ULAW, GSM

Control Center Improvements Nextiva Control Center contains many new improvements. Below is a brief description of the additions and changes:

Removal of the System Information page for better usability

Adding counters to logical and physical views

Reorganization of a number of pages to ease the application workflow

Adding counters for offline cameras

Adding retention time and storage parameters for bookmarks and investigations

Implementation of out of the box default video profiles that speed up configuration

Displaying new alert messages in the status bar for better usability, these include alerts for cameras that are offline or new devices

Displaying actual video configuration for a particular camera in the Live and Recorded Video tabs

Linking the logical view to the physical view enabling users to link a camera to an edge device and its ports

Various performance improvements for better usability

Verint Edge Device Replacement

The new feature enables users to replace defective devices or IP cameras on live systems directly in Nextiva Control Center, which lowers the cost of maintenance.

System Software Protection on Master Server or Master Recorder Starting from Nextiva 5.1., we have implemented software protection in order to protect the copyright and intellectual property of the Nextiva Enterprise Software. The Aladdin HASP USB key is connected to the Nextiva Master Server or Master Recorder. It is shipped with the installation DVD or finished goods (Master Server or Master Recorder) as part of the software package.

Finished Goods Optimization Nextiva 5.1 is using new and improved commercial off-the-shelf technology to reduce hardware procurement, maintenance costs, power consumption, and rack footprint while increasing performance. Increasing the fiber attachment capacity from 1 port to 2 ports and using a 750 gigabyte hard disk drive, for example, eliminate the need for costly fiber switches or increased internal-server storage capacity.

Windows Authentication

Nextiva authentication is now integrated with the Windows Active Directory to provide authentication services to users. This enables them to log in to both the Windows environment and the Nextiva Review, Control Center, and Client SDK applications by providing a single user name and password. System administrators can now manage a large group of users by mapping Windows and Nextiva user groups.

IntelliFlow Improvements IntelliFlow scenarios contain responses, which are actions that are executed when a situation occurs. Responses are configured in Control Center using the IntelliFlow wizard.

The following responses have been added to the Nextiva 5.1 release:

Call a Camera Preset—Enables users to call a preset in an IntelliFlow rule response

Run a Camera Pattern—Enables users to run a pattern in an IntelliFlow rule response

Change Output Relay State—Enables users to change the state of an output relay in an IntelliFlow rule response

Assign a Camera to a Monitor—Enables users to assign a camera to a monitor in response to an IntelliFlow scenario

Client SDK New Supported Features and Commands

The following features and commands are available for the Client SDK:

Operating System and Third-Party Software Updates Nextiva 5.1 includes the following updates and enhancements:

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0

Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2, Service Pack 2 for the Nextiva Recorder Server

Microsoft Windows Vista for Nextiva workstations (the 32-bit Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions are supported)

Architectural Improvements Nextiva now supports up-to 96 single input edge devices.
