Academic Accelerator - Sight Word ChallengesAsk for a list of sight words from classroom teachers.

Write one sight word on each 3x5 note card.

Have students work in groups of two or three.

Students collect a sight word card and can perform a pass for each letter of the word, or one exercise rep for each letter of the word, or high five for each letter of the word.

Sight Word Hunt - collect sight word card, to complete the card challenge find the card that has the first letter in the word (there are 26 alphabet cards spread around the perimeter of the room) flip the card and perform the movement. Now move onto the next letter in the word and find that card.

Academic Accelerator! Flash Card Fitness Math K-8

● Can be used for quick review of addition, subtraction, multiplication or division skills.

● Differentiate for student needs (cards with answers on the back, double or triple digits, different skill levels for different students)

● Can be done as a group if you do not have flash cards. Simply put the problem on a screen/whiteboard and count the numbers out together.

● Choose exercises that students have space for and can complete on their own (no partner or equipment exercises)

Example for an multiplication card

LungesX Push Ups

Squat Jacks

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Give each person an addition flash card. They complete the exercises based on the example on the screen. When they are done they trade cards with someone else. They keep switching cards until the timer/bell rings.
