Mission Statement • To share information on all issues relating to

newspapers and news published in any media (print, microfilm, or electronically) including acquisition, collection development, cataloguing, digitisation, conservation, storage and long—term preservation both of physical and digital media.

• The section is further concerned with standards pertaining to newspapers and all other kinds of news media, and with physical and intellectual access to these collections as our cultural heritage.

2014 IFLA International Newspaper Conference Start Spreading the News!

Date: February 4 – 5, 2014 Venue: FamilySearch Headquarters, Salt Lake City, Utah The IFLA Newspapers Section is currently seeking papers on or about outreach and marketing strategies for using or promoting online newspaper content, text mining, users of newspaper content, and use of news content for research purposes or as primary sources for historical or contemporary themes for its upcoming United States-hosted conference.
