ANNOUNCEMENTS  Principal’s  Message  New Learning Assistant - Our new Learning Assistant and former Costanoa student, Aaliyah Wilson will hopefully start Dec 11, if all of the paperwork goes through. We still have an opening for a second Learning Assistant to fill the space when Diane Kinly leaves. Please help get the word out to anyone who would be interested and a good match.

Lysa List - Lysa List celebrations continue. We have had two groups go on a special walking field trip to Oceanview park. Next the Ocean class, the first class where every student was noticed by someone using their heart and/or mind well, will go to the park this Friday 12/1. These celebrations have been super fun. Every child will be on the Lysa list at least once this year. Home Visits - A Great Way to Build Community Monarch teachers often go above and beyond. When they can they have attended students’ performances and sporting events outside of school. Many of them have been doing home visits for years. This year more of them are reaching out to families to connect with them and their students through a home visit. This is a great way to build relationships and get to know students and their families better. If you are uncomfortable with a teacher visiting of course it is not required. But it is one way for a teacher to go above and beyond to get to know their students and their families. This type of reaching out to your student and family can make a huge difference for students in their ability to connect to the Monarch community and be successful at school. Again, if your family is not comfortable with this please do not participate. If this was a home visit due to a concern that the student was "at risk" it would not be conducted in this casual manner. For those types of home visits we include a social worker, usually I am involved and the teacher may or may not be. Please let me know if you have any questions.

in the Multi-Purpose Room, and end by 8:30pm. Music class performances will start promptly at 6:30, with the Earth, followed by the Tierra class. Then the Sky West and Sky East classes will perform. (Ocean and Sea classes will start music in January.) Families will remain while the students retire downstairs to classrooms to prepare for the Farmer's Market simulation. After getting instructions, families will join them. Included in the market portion of the evening will be a performance of the Kindergarten play, Stone Soup. Come share and enjoy a taste of your child(ren)'s work and learning. n

Special  Needs  Parent  Support  Group    All are welcome to join our Monarch support group meeting for allies and caregivers of kids with special needs. We will meet Wednesday, December 6th at 5:30 pm onward at Abbott square (if cold out we will likely be inside). n  Monarch  Community  Board  Update  Please note the Monarch Community Board meeting will be on Thursday 12/14 from 7-9 pm. If you plan to attend and need childcare, please let me know at least 2 days prior. A big appreciation for the dedicated and caring staff at Monarch. Did you know that our teachers go out of their way to connect with and get to know students? They often give up their own personal time to meet students at their homes for an outside school connection, attending student performances and events outside of school, and making the time to know our kids beyond the classroom. Thank you for going above and beyond!

 Downtown  Holiday  Parade    Monarch school will once again participate in the Downtown Holiday Parade on December 2nd on Pacific Avenue. Kids will wear provided Monarch butterfly wings. Adults will walk in the parade with their kids, so wear your orange and black (and your Monarch hats too)! We are staging number 18 in the parade, between Santa Cruz Waldorf and Artisans - Agency. Meet on Pacific near Spruce St around 9 am… look for all your friends! The parade starts at 10 and will happen rain or shine. CLASS UPDATES TIERRA  &  EARTH  TRANSMISSIONS    Thank you all for coming to conferences. Learning Celebration is a fun night where we celebrate what we have been exploring in our theme. Attendance is expected and role will be taken. We are starting to prepare for our market place learning celebration. Sr Earth and Sr. Tierra kids are working on small group businesses with Laura in the afternoons. You should have received instructions and supply lists last week. Jr. Earths (all kinders) are going to be making stone soup to sell. We will need every child to bring in one vegetable that would be yummy in soup. I'd like to get in some stock as a base. We will also need lots of disposable bowls (or cups)

and spoons to serve hot soup in. There will be a list on the door of suggestions. Sign up next to help bring in an item. We (Jr. Earths) are also doing the play of Stone Soup. The costumes should be quite simple. I would love help in getting some props and costumes together. Characters are: 2 doctors, a hairdresser, 2 artists, a police officer, a vet, 2 fire fighters, a carpenter, 2 seamstresses, 2 farmers, a cat, a mom, a girl and 3 travelers. I have a hairdresser smock, a vet smock, and 2 fire fighter outfits. I need some help with gathering thrift store t shirts to cut and sew into gigantic vegtables (I'm thinking orange, red, green. yellow and white, black and brown. We will perform the play at learning celebration. If you know in advance you will not be able to attend our Learning Celebration, please contact me as soon as possible.

OCEAN  &  SEA  CLASS  CURRENTS  Our next field trip is on Thursday, December 7th. We will be going to New Leaf and the Credit Union. Please sign up to drive if you are available!

Our first learning celebration of this school year is on Dec. 20th, from 6:30-8:30pm. The students will be creating a market. Hopefully you have brought in all the materials needed for your child's products and/or services that they will be selling at the market. Please let us know ASAP if you cannot bring something in that they need.

Thank you for all the wonderful conferences. A few people had to miss due to illness or other issues, but we so appreciated the opportunity to talk and share with you about your children. It is such a reminder of why we work here: great kids and parents! Thank you, again.

BIG  SKY  NEWS  This week in Sky class has been dedicated to gathering the materials for the market to be held during Learning Celebration. Each of our classes have been working eagerly to plan all the materials they need and list the steps they will need to take. Already ideas are being tweaked as they are seeing how much their products will truly cost. We are still in the process of sourcing all materials and expect production of items to begin in earnest on Monday. To prepare for the market, we could use extra parent volunteers to help Sky students with production. A high need time is Wed.12/6 10:30 - 12:00 when we have no parent volunteers and some kids will be baking. Also needed is support during theme time 9 - 10 Monday, Tuesday, Friday next week (week of 12/4), as well as Tuesday 12/5 1:45 - 2:45. Please email either of us if you can lend a hand. This is an exciting, huge undertaking. Our next field trip will be Thursday December 7th. We will be visiting both Seabright Beach, where we will be working together with a group called Groundswell to replant native species that your children helped grow. We will also be visiting Beckmans Bakery where the students will get a closer look in what production looks like in the real world. As always, we appreciate all the contributions you make that help keep Monarch such a wonderful place.

ANUNCIOS  MENSAJE  DE  LYSA  Nueva Asistente de Aprendizaje: Esperamos que nuestra nueva Asistente de Aprendizaje y ex alumna de Costanoa, Aaliyah Wilson, comience el 11 de diciembre, si todo el papeleo continúa. Las celebraciones de la Lista Lysa continúan. Hemos tenido dos grupos en un paseo especial a Oceanview Park. Estas celebraciones han sido súper divertidas. Todos los niños estarán en la lista de Lysa al menos una vez este año. Celebración  de  aprendizaje  La celebración de aprendizaje se llevará a cabo el miércoles, 20 de diciembre. La tarde comenzará a las 6:30 p.m., en el Salón multiusos, y finalizará a las 8:30 p.m. Las actuaciones de la clase de música comenzarán puntualmente a las 6:30, con la Earth, seguida de la clase Tierra. Entonces las clases Cielo Oeste y Cielo Este se realizarán. (Las clases de Océano y Mar comenzarán música en enero.) Las familias se quedarán mientras los alumnos se retiran a los salones para prepararse para la simulación del Mercado de agricultores. Después de recibir instrucciones, las familias se unirán con ellos. Incluido en la porción del mercado de la noche será un espectáculo de la obra de Kindergarten, Stone Soup.  Desfile  festivo  en  el  centro  La escuela Monarch participará una vez más en el Desfile festivo del centro (Downtown Holiday Parade) el 2 de diciembre en la Avenida Pacific. Los niños usarán alas de mariposa monarca proporcionadas por Monarch. Los adultos caminarán en el desfile con sus hijos, ¡así que pónganse sus colores naranja y negro (y sus sombreros de Monarch también)! Estamos organizando el número 18 en el desfile, entre Santa Cruz Waldorf y Artisans - Agencia. Llegue a Pacific y la calle Spruce alrededor de las 9 am ... ¡busque a todos sus amigos! Estamos empezando a prepararnos para nuestra celebración de aprendizaje en el mercado. Los niños de Earth y Tierra mayores están trabajando en negocios de grupos pequeños con Laura por las tardes. Debería haber recibido instrucciones y listas de ingredientes/materiales la semana pasada.

Earth (todos los kinders) van a hacer sopa de piedra para vender. Necesitaremos que cada niño traiga un vegetal que sería delicioso en sopa. Me gustaría tener algunas acciones como base. También necesitaremos muchos cuencos desechables (o tazas) y cucharas para servir sopa caliente. Habrá una lista en la puerta de sugerencias. Regístrese al lado para ayudar a traer un artículo.

Nosotros (pequeños de Earth) también estamos haciendo el juego de Stone Soup (Sopa de piedra). El vestuario debe ser bastante simple. Me encantaría ayudar a conseguir algunos accesorios y disfraces juntos. Los personajes son: 2 médicos, un peluquero, 2 artistas, un oficial de policía, un veterinario, 2 bomberos, un carpintero, 2 costureras, 2 granjeros, un gato, una madre, una niña y 3 viajeros. Tengo una bata de peluquería, una bata de veterinario y 2 trajes de bombero. Necesito ayuda para reunir camisetas de tiendas de segunda mano para cortar y coser en gigantescos vegetales (estoy pensando en naranja, rojo, verde, amarillo y blanco, negro y marrón).

Realizaremos la obra en la Celebración de aprendizaje. Si sabe de antemano que no podrá asistir a nuestra Celebración de aprendizaje, contáctenos lo antes posible.

CORRIENTES  DE  OCÉANO  Y  MAR  Nuestra próxima excursión es el jueves, 7 de diciembre. Iremos a New Leaf y Credit Union. ¡Inscríbase para conducir si está disponible!

Nuestra primera Celebración de aprendizaje de este año escolar es el 20 de diciembre, de 6:30 a 8:30 p.m. Los estudiantes crearán un mercado. Esperamos que haya traído todos los materiales necesarios para los productos y / o servicios de su hijo que venderán en el mercado. Por favor, háganos saber lo antes posible si no puede traer algo que necesitan.

Gracias por todas las maravillosas conferencias. Algunas personas tuvieron que perder debido a una enfermedad u otros problemas, pero apreciamos mucho la oportunidad de hablar y compartir con ustedes sobre sus hijos. Es un recordatorio de por qué trabajamos aquí: ¡excelentes niños y padres! Gracias de nuevo.

NOTICIAS  DEL  GRAN  CIELO  Esta semana en la clase Cielo se ha dedicado a reunir los materiales para el mercado que se celebrará durante la Celebración de aprendizaje. Cada una de nuestras clases ha trabajado arduamente para planificar todos los materiales que necesitan y enumerar los pasos que deberán seguir. Ya se están modificando las ideas, ya que están viendo cuánto costarán realmente sus productos. Todavía estamos en proceso de obtener todos los materiales y esperamos que la producción de artículos comience en serio el lunes.

Para prepararse para el mercado, podríamos usar padres voluntarios adicionales para ayudar a los estudiantes de Cielo con la producción. Un tiempo de alta necesidad es el miércoles 12/6 10:30 - 12:00 cuando no tenemos padres voluntarios y algunos niños estarán horneando. También se necesita ayuda durante el tiempo del Tema 9 - 10 el lunes, el martes, el viernes de la próxima semana (semana de 12/4), así como el martes 12/5 1:45 - 2:45. Por favor envíe un correo electrónico a cualquiera de nosotros si puede echar una mano. Esta es una empresa emocionante y enorme. Nuestra próxima excursión será el jueves 7 de diciembre. Visitaremos la playa de Seabright, donde trabajaremos junto con un grupo llamado Groundswell para replantar las especies nativas que sus hijos ayudaron a cultivar. También visitaremos Beckmans Bakery, donde los estudiantes verán más de cerca cómo es la producción en el mundo real. Como siempre, agradecemos todas las contribuciones que hace para ayudar a mantener a Monarch en un lugar tan maravilloso.
