Important dates for your diary

My experience at the Royal SocietySummer Exhibition in 2018 waswonderful. Firstly, we passed a stall aboutMars and finding any type of life on Mars. They talked about sending newequipment up into space, specificallytechnology that is able to detectdifferent gases in Mars’ atmosphere. Thepresenter also kindly let us use the sameexact device to show us how differentthe findings are for specific gases such asOxygen and Carbon Dioxide.

We also met a representative from the“Nurturing Nature’s Innovations”exhibition. The science researcher of thatexhibition had a slug’s body in a vasefilled with a dirty mixture. We questionedthe man and he explained to us that hisexhibition was about using slugs’ slimy

substance (thathelps them stick towet surfaces) insurgeries forimportant organssuch as the heartand the brain. Ascurious children weasked lots ofquestions as wefound it peculiar forsurgeons to beusing such substances in surgery butfortunately he was kind and explained tous everything about that topic.

Towards the end of the day, we had a talkand a presentation from a monologistwho had started to work as a meteoriteresearcher in Antarctica. She showed

some exciting pictures.

Overall, I loved my experience at theRoyal Society Summer Exhibitionbecause I have learnt many new excitingthings which could help me in the future.
