APICS OKC Student Competition Results On April 12th, the annual chapter student competition was hosted

ed case studies in front of a panel of judges from industry. The first

Josyula, pictured at left and hailing from OSU, was awarded $500.

“APICS means a lot to us. All three of us are candidates of APICS

family forever,” said Swaraj Meher. The OKC Chapter congratu-

lates all of the presenters on a job well done.

Second place went to the team from OU. Their winning team consisted of

Fei Ai, Yichi Xie, Daniel Schwarz, and Frank Merkt, pictured to the right.

Kawika Ah Lo Wins APICS OKC Scholarship The UCO College of Business held their Honors

& Awards Banquet on April 28th. Kawika Ah Lo

received the APICS Oklahoma City Chapter

scholarship during the banquet in recognition of

her demonstrated potential for success in Opera-

tions and Supply Chain Management. Pictured

with Kawika is Dr Willis Mwangola, Faculty Advi-

sor, for the UCO Student Chapter.

Our chapter provides annual scholarship funds to

the three Oklahoma universities with active

APICS student chapters. OU typically announc-

es their winners in the Fall, so watch for those

announcements later. OSU will begin receiving

scholarships for the Fall now that their chapter is

formed.

OSU Student Chapter Field Trip to Walmart Distri-bution Center

The OSU student chapter toured the Walmart Distribution Center in Pauls

Valley, OK on April 7, 2017. The host Mr. Larry Turner, General Manager,

and members of his staff briefed the group on their operations and perfor-

mance measures, and then provided an extensive tour of the DC.

Following the tour there was time allowed for more questions and answers.

We think everyone enjoyed seeing the whir of activity as trucks are unload-

ed and merchandise put away and/or pulled to load outbound trucks.

Many thanks to Mr. Turner and staff for hosting this event.

Industry This Semester

Katie Ward from Tinker AFB (photo above) talks with students about the Palace Acquire Program and the meaningful work and

the internship/advancement opportunities present when working in the Air Force.

Other industry presenters this semester were Tiffany Smith, Manager at J. B. Hunt, who spoke about her experience with the

company and described hiring and internship opportunities. Likewise, Elizabeth Kissick, former manager and supervisor at

McKesson, spoke about her experience in leadership positions after college and the importance of understanding and driving the

The OU student chapter has been blessed with the excellent guest speakers and their sharing experiences and taking time to

answer questions about life after college.
