How to Survive Finals Week:

Lesson number one, don’t

freak out! Stressing to the

max will only make things

worse, just calm down and

focus. Next, prioritize; know

your finals schedule and ad-

just study time accordingly. If

you know one final should be

particularly difficult, find more

time to study for it than may-

be a final that you are confi-

dent about. Also, don’t forget

to eat and sleep well; your

brain can’t perform to the best

of its ability if it doesn’t have

the amount of rest and nutri-

ents it needs. Another thing to

remember is to set some re-

minders; the last thing you

want to do is spend all your

time studying and then miss

your final! Set alarms and

reminders on your phone,

have someone call you, make

a note of it somewhere you

know you’ll see it and maybe

even have your roommate

double check to make sure

you’re up and ready on time.

Lastly, break time. It’s not

necessary to study every

available second of every

day. Sometimes it’s important

to take a break and do some-

thing you enjoy, just chill for a

bit and let yourself recover.

Come back with warm clothes! Indiana winters are cold and unpredictable. Be

prepared by bringing a warm coat, gloves, hat, and winter boots.

Stay turned for a chance to meet your Mentor: We are planning a Meet your Mentor night. A chance where you can ac-tually talk and hang out with the person that is here for you! It will be sometime in the first couple of weeks that we are back on cam-pus. So please stay turned. You don’t want to miss the chance to meet with them!

How to handle stress around finals: Listed below are a couple tips to help you out: -Make a study schedule-- Find out all the dates all your papers, speeches, and final exams are. Estimate the time required to complete each task. And then prioritize what needs to be done each day. And start on the smaller tasks first, and the most urgent one that need to be done. -Be kind to your body-- I know sleep is a luxury during dead week and finals week. But really try to use your time wisely, and schedule at least 5-8 hours of sleep. You are what you eat, drop that yummy snickers bar, for a healthy delicious banana, or nuts, or a bushel of grapes, and whole grain crackers. And remember to stay hydrated, drink plenty of water, But if you are feeling low go for a healthy milkshake full of protein, or a smoothie. Go for a walk, or run on the ellipti-cal and watch tv at the same. -Relax-- try to find a relaxation technique, such as meditating or taking time to do something you like to do. This is an im-portant step for blowing off steam.
