Principal’s Report Over half way of term 4! Can you believe it?! My wife has even started Christmas shopping! I have been really thrilled with the effort the students have been making in their learning in term 4. I have had the pleasure of having many students come and show me their work this week, including one example of writing that described how to build a table! Great job Cody!
On Monday we had a Remembrance Day ceremony, where Hollie, Caitlan and Ellenois respectfully lead us through the ceremony. I was so proud to hear of the respect shown in each classroom during the minute’s silence. Thank you to those families who purchased poppies too. Lest We Forget.
This week we had another ‘site visit’ from prospective builders to complete the new school building due for commencement in January 2020. It is getting so close now! I know the students will love seeing this building being created over the coming months and throughout the new year. New buildings at a school always generates so much excitement and curiosity in our students. I can’t wait either!
Over the coming weeks we will be finalising our staffing profile for 2020. We have already seen a number of staff members take up exciting opportunities for the rest of this year, which has meant we can go ahead and advertise for new teachers in 2020. If I do say so myself, I am thrilled with the selections! We will make some further announcements before the end of the year, but I hope for the school community to meet our new staff members during our Transition program commencing 9th December. So stay tuned for more news!
So many things to look forward to in the second half of the term. Our Year 6s are gearing up for their Graduation Ceremony on the 17th December, our Swimming Program will commence on the 25th November (please ensure permission slips are returned and payment is made asap- CSEF available), as well as a Christmas Concert on 12th December from 2.20pm. Exciting times!
A reminder that this Friday 15th November will be a student-free day. Staff will be participating in the second Berry Street Workshop, this time being held at Aldercourt Primary School.
Finally, you may have seen myself and Jack MO-Zurek sporting the MOst disgraceful MO’s of all time! To further raise awareness for Men’s Health, we will be having a free dress day on Friday 29th Movember. We encourage students to bring a gold coin donation. It would be great to see some MOre MO’s around on the day too!

Let’s Chat
On Wednesday 20th November from 2:30pm-3:30pm (during Prep transition) there will be a Let's Chat session. Each family that attends will receive a FREE book.
Book Fair
The Book Fair will be coming back to Mahogany Rise next week from 18 November to 21 November in the Library from 3pm to 3.30pm.
This is a wonderful opportunity to pick up some stocking fillers or even Christmas presents for your child/ren.
It is a Buy One Get One Free Book Fair, which means you can get two books for the price of one (books must be the same price or less). However, if you are only after one book it is a great way to support the library and donate a book or two.
What have 3/4D been up to!
Grade 3/4D has been VERY busy this term. In Maths, we had a fun exploration of angles. We measured and named the angles that are a right angle, smaller than a right angle (called acute angles, not cute angels!) and larger than a right angle (called an obtuse angle). We covered our tables with tape and measured them with Right Angle Finders, called Fish Gobblers. After that, we tried some challenging 5/6 work and actually measured the angles in degrees, using a protractor. We are proud to share our hard work with you all.
Throughout the investigation, some of us found some interesting rules about angles. Did you know that the two angles next to each other as they intersect a straight line will always add to 180 degrees? And when those same lines intersect, the angles opposite each other will be the same? Tahlia, Maddy and Sabrina did a great job working that out and then getting the rest of the class to check their hypothesis (guess) to see if it followed the rule every time. It did!
The Grade 3/4s have also been fortunate to participate in an amazing sports program, run by SEDA, on Thursday mornings. We completed small workshops each week and really stepped outside our comfort zones and learned plenty of new footy skills. We developed our skills in kicking, passing, marking and tackling.
