Page 1 Mother’s Day Morning Tea Next Friday 10 th May, we will be hosting our annual Mother’s Day Morning Tea and you’re all invited! From 10.30am-11.30am we would love to see Mums, Nans and Aunts come along and join us for a cuppa and delicious treats while we look around the new student kitchen facilities which have recently been completed. There will also be an opportunity to have a family portrait taken thanks to Karen Hall from Schools As Community Centres. An RSVP slip has been included in this newsletter. Please complete it and send it back to school with your child to assist us with confirming numbers for catering purposes. New Principal At the end of Term 1 the process was finalised regarding a permanent appointment to the Principal position here at Kempsey South PS. I am pleased to say that I will now remain at the school as the permanent Principal and look forward to working with our diligent and devoted staff and our phenomenal local community for many years to ensure that this school continues to thrive and provide the children of this area with a first-class education which will present them with all the opportunities in the world to follow their dreams and succeed in the future. It has been wonderful to see all of the bright and bubbly faces returning to school over the past couple of days, excited to commence what will be a very busy Term 2. We have plenty of sporting events and artistic performances already locked into our schedule as well as NAPLAN testing for Years 3 and 5, excursions to various locations currently being planned and dynamic lessons being delivered each and every day by our dedicated staff. We look forward to continuing to work alongside you all to ensure that your child’s educational, social and personal development continues to progress. 2019 Fun Run Beach Blast Next Wednesday our whole school will be travelling to Crescent Head for the day to enjoy a range of fun activities which promote active and healthy living. We will kick it all off with a fun run which will be followed by students rotating through a series of activities including fishing, beach volleyball, sand sculptures, treasure hunts and many more. The cost for the day is only $5 which covers our travel to and from the venue. It promises to an absolutely awesome way to start Term 2 with a bang and those people who shine during the fun run may have the opportunity to also compete at the Lower North Coast PSSA Cross Country in a couple of weeks’ time. Please ensure that your child’s permission note and money are returned to their Class Teacher as soon as possible. No students will remain at school on the day.

Kempsey South P&C Association will no longer be selling school uniform at the school. The P&C is aiming to support parents to be able to purchase uniforms during school holidays and after school. The school will continue to sell school hats only. Abbey Video/Uniform Shop will now be stocking the uniforms on behalf of the school. We will be having a sale on all of our current uniform stocks—taking $5 off the price of each item. All purchases must be cash—NO EFTPOS.

2019 Kempsey South Cross Country Carnival The 2019 school Cross Country carnival will be held on Wednesday 8th May 2019 at Crescent Head Beach. Students in Years K to 6 are expected to attend. Students 8 years and older will be able to compete for entry into the LNC Cross Country. Cost: $5 Time: The carnival will start at 10 am and run until approximately 2 pm. Students need to arrive at school at 9 am to depart by bus at 9.15 am. Transport: Students will travel to and from the beach by bus. What to bring: Students need to bring their hat, sunscreen, refillable drink bottle and their morning tea and lunch. Students may bring a towel to sit on. Students will not be swimming. Spectators are welcome to meet us at the beach. If you have any queries, please contact the front office.
