Welcome to week 5
Congratulations to Joe Quade who represented our school and Western
District at the State AFL Championship in Sydney last week. This has been a
wonderful opportunity for Joe who enjoyed the experience.
You may have noticed your child came home with a new book yesterday. These
books were generously donated by Books4Outback. Thanks to Neil & Roger for
their generosity. They went to 28 schools on this trip.
Today the students have been involved in Science activities lead by Sally Russell
who is the Education Officer at the Lake Cowell Conservation Centre. The
children gathered ‘mini- beasts’ from the garden and viewed them under the
microscope. Thank you to ITAV for organising this opportunity for us and
bringing the pre-schoolers along to join in.
On Monday, Year 6 travelled to Wagga Wagga to take part in the GRIP
Leadership Conference. I would like to commend Jasmine, Joe and Jake on
their behaviour. The conference focused on what it means to be a good leader
and how best to contribute to a team.
Congratulations to Ella Hueske who is our Citizen of the Week. Ella is an
enthusiastic learner who contributes to all aspects of school life in a positive
manner. Well done, Ella.

GRIP Conference The GRIP Student Leadership Conference is unique in that it concentrates specifically on training student
leaders for their role as SCHOOL LEADERS. The style, topics, and content of this conference all focus on
what the students can do RIGHT NOW.
Mrs Johnson, Joe, Jake and Jasmine travelled to CSU Wagga to take part in this experience.
Grip Leadership Recount
I learnt that leadership is about people not
position or power. The 4 core characteristics of
leadership are; empathy, reliability, the ability to
help others and to be focused on others.
Some ways to make a contribution to my team
are:
Enjoyment—make it fun
Contribute my strengths
Help others
Do the necessary tasks without being
asked.

Books4Outback Neil and Roger from Books4Outback brought us a box of books
from Newcastle. Some are new, some are not. Some are for the
library, and some are for the children to keep. Books4Outback
has been collecting books and distributing for over 4 years, and
they have handed out over 30,000 books in over 150 schools.
Library bag and books borrowed last week, need to
come to Library on Friday.
