National Lottery Funding Grant Points of Interest
At Indigo we are continually working on developing our Outdoor Learning Environment
as well as promoting the importance of family involvement in our children’s
development therefore we are applying for ‘The Community and Families Fund’ from
both the Scottish Government and The Big Lottery Fund, gaining this fund would
enable us to purchase materials to improve our outdoor area. However we
desperately need your help!!!! Part of the condition of this fund involves gaining
support from community groups and our families. We have been successful in working
with the local Urban Roots project and the Community Reparation Services to help us
with planning and manual labour. What next? Now need members of our children’s
families who would be willing to donate a small amount of their time to help our
gardening group. Our main aim is to develop a family garden in which you and your
child can enjoy. If you or someone in your family is interested please speak to your
child’s key worker - we don't require that you have any gardening experience we are
just looking for someone who is enthusiastic and willing to help us achieve our goal!!!
(Our children have already began drawing up plans for their outdoor area)
The Parents Council
Parents council meetings are held once every six weeks, discussing issues involving
your children, fundraising and more. Meetings are very informal and crèche facilities
are available on request. Parental involvement is extremely important in your child’s
development. If you are interested in joining our Parents Council please speak to
your child’s key worker. We look forward to seeing some new faces.
Outdoors & The Environment
Our Eco team at 29 have been responsible for looking after our outdoor environment; each week a group of staff
and children are involved in litter picking and ensuring the garden is tidy, removing any rubbish that has been
gathered to ensure that our children continue to participate in outdoor learning in a safe environment.
Developing Literacy
The Moonlight Room at 29 have been exploring various
languages and cultures in relation to September’s
International Day of Languages. During this experience the
children have been learning to say ‘Hello’ and ‘Goodbye’ in their
chosen countries language. Staff and children in the room
decided to choose Spain - linking with many of our children’s
holidays in which they had the opportunity to make paella and
Spanish flags, Italy - As Lesley is just back from visiting there,
the children experienced making garlic play-dough, making
pizzas and pasta pictures; our third country was Ireland as
some of our children have family there in which the children
made soda bread, danced to Irish Music and made potato
prints.
Responsible Citizens
At our 123 base, the children participated in
‘The Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning’ in aid of McMillan
Cancer Support on Friday 28th September 2012. The children
and staff were very busy baking cakes for our parents to enjoy
with their coffee. We would like to thank the parents who
attended and/or donated to such a fantastic cause. If any
parents wish to donate the donation boxes are still available.
WELL DONE!!!
Children have the appropriate clothing for outdoors
this includes clothing that your child is comfortable in
and that you don't mind getting a little messy to
ensure your child gets the most from their outdoor
experience.
Please ensure that your child’s purple bag is stocked
up with spare clothes.
Please ensure your child has soft indoor shoes on
before entering the playroom..
Could you also please put your child ‘s name on the
inside of their jacket to limit any mix-ups.
Please ensure that your child has a change of
clothes at all times and that these are kept in the
purple peg bags provided. Can we remind parents
to replenish supplies of nappies and wipes when
required.
Can parents ensure that they change their child into
soft shoes before entering the playroom
Could parents ensure that they fold their prams/
buggies and put them in the pram store as neatly as
possible to allow other parents access.
Please do not leave changing bags/rucksacks on
pegs as there is limited space in the cloakrooms
(please use purple bags provided).

You can also find us on Facebook, where you can view information
and pictures of recent events and activities happening within both
nurseries . Again there are opportunities to voice your opinions

Morrison’s Let’s Grow Vouchers
We are currently collecting Let’s Grow vouchers, these are awarded
when spending over £10 in any Morrisons store, if you happen to
collect these vouchers while shopping it would be greatly
appreciated if you could donate them to either of our early years
bases. Collecting these vouchers will enable us to gain free
gardening equipment to assist in the development of our outdoor
area.

Indigo Fundraising
Thanks to our parents council members and staff’s fundraising efforts, during the October
week both early years bases will receive a very special visit from ‘Amazonia’ Our children
will be able to experience first hand touching and seeing various reptiles and mini beasts
as well as explore and learn about the rainforest. Your child’s key worker will inform you
of dates and times and I am sure your children will have lots of stories to tell you
afterwards!!
Help Needed!!!!
We are planning on building our very own Eco Hut, in order to do so, we require your
help!!! All we ask is that you donate your empty 2 litre juice bottles to us in order for our
children to collect them, we need to save a whopping 1000 bottles therefore your help is
extremely important to us. Our gardening group will set up a drop off bin in the main hall
to collect any bottles you may have. Once we have raised enough bottles we plan to build
an Eco hut from the bottles, bamboo canes and frames in which our children can grown
their very own vegetables.
