REMINDER: We try to limit the number of classroom interruptions during the school day. Please make sure that your child brings their homework, lunch money, projects, etc to school in the morning. NOTES –We appreciate notes If you need to pickup your child early, please send a note to your child’s teacher in the morning. We ask you give us ample time to locate your student along with gathering their belongings; and still make your appointment on time. When you arrive the office staff will call your child from the classroom. Any requests for early dismissal or changes in transportation must by made by 2:00 p.m. unless there is an emergency. DOCTOR/DENTIST APPOINTMENTS Please provide to the school office your child’s doctor excuse or appointment card when your child returns to school. We will use this documentation to record student as an excused absence. DISMISSAL END OF DAY We ask that your child follow the same routine daily going home to avoid any confusion at the end of the day. One of the most difficult things for us to do is manage all the last minute changes on how students are to go home for the day. Please inform your child’s teacher and the school office of any changes to end of day dismissal. Each time a parent/guardian calls to change his or her child’s dismissal procedure we have to interrupt instructional time to let the teacher and student know about the change. If there should need to be a change, please send in a note with your child. If an emergency arises, contact the school office early in the day or before 2:00 so that all parties may be notified in time. HOMEWORK REQUESTS If your child is absent for 2 days or more, you may submit a homework request. You can email the teacher or let us know when calling attendance line.

CAR RIDERS Car riders are to be dropped off/picked up in the car line in front of the school. Parents may not drop off children at other locations such as the front drive, crosswalk, or bus area. Children are to only exit/enter cars by the assigned school station. Children in the car line are only to exit/enter on the curbside of the car. You may drop your child off between 8:50 - 9:15 a.m. (no supervision is provided for students prior to 8:50 a.m.) In order to change a student’s mode of transportation, a written note from the parent must be sent to the school office in the morning.

BIRTHDAY TREATS and FOOD POLICY We ask you to send only non-food items such as stickers, pencils, eraser or a game for the class to share for indoor recess. Refer to Food Policy letter sent home with your student for more information. We ask no flowers or balloons are delivered to school.

LOST AND FOUND Please label outer clothing and lunch boxes with your child’s name. All items found in the school will be placed in the Lost and Found area of the cafeteria. SCHOOL FEES – Due by November 13 Fees may be paid at school office, district office or via on-line at Infinite Campus parent portal. In school office we can accept checks payable to PLSD or exact cash amount. You may also pay at the PLSD Treasurer’s office 90 East Street by credit card. School Fees are for consumable items.

SCHOOL PICTURES School pictures are scheduled for Tuesday, September 1. Forms were sent home with your child. All students will have picture taken for our student system. Purchasing pictures is optional.

Remember P.E. clothes and

shoes! Remember to have your student wear their

tennis shoes and comfortable clothing that will not limit their movement or embarrass them if

they are stretching or tumbling in Physical Education.

WELCOME BACK FROM THE SCHOOL NURSE It is great to see everyone back at school! Health Information If your child has a medical condition, asthma, ADD/ADHD, seizures, food allergy, takes medication, etc., that was not listed on the EMA form, please contact the school nurse so your child’s health information can be updated. Information will be shared with staff members in order to safely care for your child. During the school year, please be sure to update the school nurse and your child’s teacher(s) of any new medical conditions your child is diagnosed with or any new medications your child is taking. This would include changes to a current medical condition or medication dosage as well. If your child needs to take medication at school, please refer to the following information. PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION can be administered at school, if necessary, following all of these three guidelines: 1. Note from physician with: ** a. Name of medication b. Dosage c. Time to be administered d. Side effects e. Start/End Date f. Signature of the physician 2. Note from the parent giving permission to administer (with parent’s signature) 3. Medication must be in the original pharmacy labeled container. ** You can obtain a Request for Administration of Medication by School Personnel Grades K-12 form in the school office or from the district website. NON-PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION (like cough drops, Tylenol, etc.) can be administered, if necessary, and requires: 1. Note from parent with: *** a. Name of student b. Name of medication c. Time to be administered d. Dosage to be given e. Signature of parent and date 2. Medication must be in the original container 3. Dosage must be age and weight appropriate for your child. *** You can obtain an Administering Nonprescription Medication-Grades K-12 form in the school office or from the district website.
