Dear Brother Sir Knights, We have just completed the Easter season with the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord. The Feast of Pentecost and the Feast of the Holy Trinity are just ahead of us. We heard the instructions the Apostles received, Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature. These instructions also are directed to all of us, especially as Knights of Columbus and as Fathers. On the Feast of Pentecost, we are reminded of the fulfillment of the promise our Lord made to His Disci- ples and to us: And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth.(John 14:16) The Apostles were given the Holy Spirit with His gifts of Wisdom, Understanding, Coun- sel, Fortitude, Courage, Knowledge, Piety and Fear of the Lord to guide them. These Gifts are ours. Through our Baptism and Confirmation, we became followers, disci- ples of Our Lord. Reflecting on these feasts, we, the followers of Christ, are sent forth to proclaim the Gospel and we receive the help we need to accomplish this mission. We are called to be witnesses to the world, beginning with our families. The month of June, gives us as Knights many opportunities for reflection. We cele- brate the Feasts of Corpus Christi and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The saints we remem- ber during the month are great examples for us. A few of these are St Norbert, St. Barna- bas, and Sts. Peter and Paul. Read about the lives of the saints. On June 18 th , we celebrate Fathers Day. We give thanks for the gift of our family and the trust God shows us. Being a Catholic dad is a great privilege and responsibility. How can we live up to this responsibility? Teach by example. Brother Sir Knights and Ladies,

First of all, I want to thank everyone for their help and support this past Fraternal year while serving as your Faithful Navi-gator. Even though I’ve been a 4th degree member since 1993, I’ve learned so many more great things about our order. I en-courage others to step up and serve the Assembly as you get so much more out of something when you put more effort into it! The Installation of Officers for the As-sembly will be held on June 28. Worthy Master Pat Conway & the Third District staff will conduct the ceremonials. This is an Open Meeting, so please plan to attend & show your support for the incoming officers. I ask our ladies to bring those delicious desserts. Officers are required to be present and wear their tuxedo with so-cial baldric and members are recommend-ed to wear their tuxedo with social baldric also. With your help and support, this promises to be another great year! Two important dates are in the month of June, Flag Day and Father’s Day. Flag Day was believed to have first originated in 1885 in the Fredonia, Wisconsin Public School to observe June 14 (the 108th anni-versary of the official adoption of The Stars and Stripes) as 'Flag Birthday'. It was not until August 3rd, 1949, that President Truman signed an Act of Congress desig-nating June 14th of each year as National Flag Day. FLY YOUR FLAG! Also the nation’s first Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910, in the state of Washing-ton. However, it was not until 1972, 58 years after President Woodrow Wilson made Mother’s Day official, that the day honoring fathers became a nationwide hol-iday in the United States. Today, the day honoring fathers is celebrated in the United States on the third Sunday of June. As our Faithful Friar says in his message this month, it is truly a great privilege and re-sponsibility to be a Catholic dad. Make it a priority to spend time with your family and attend Mass as a family. Happy Father’s Day and God bless all the dads! Fraternally, John Vrla, FN

Sec. 6 of the U.S. Flag Code indicates that our nation’s flag should

flown, weather permitting, from sunrise to sunset.

June 14th - Flag Day June 18th - Father’s Day

Proudly Fly Your Flag Daily!

Here are some ideas: Go to Sunday Mass as a family and dress as if you were going to a wedding. Going to Mass is one of the most important events of the week. Let your children see you pray. Pray with them. Turn off the TV and dust off your Bible and let your children read to you. Spend quality time with them. The time you spend with your family is worth more than the things we give them. Celebrate your chil-dren’s achievements. Listen to them. As you make vacation plans, be safe and make sure Sunday Mass is part of your plan. Have an enjoyable summer. Blessings, SK Fr. Josef Vollmer-König Faithful Friar

Sunday, June 11, 2017, 6:00-10:00 PM @ Kaycee Club

There are three membership numbers that can be found in this newsletter so see if you can find yours and contact me if you do as it may be worth a free drink after the next meeting.

Just for the fun of it, I’d like any member that is interested to submit an old picture of themselves like from high school, college, or military and also a current picture. The idea is for members to get to know more about one another and see if anyone can guess who the “mystery” Sir Knight is in the newsletter. The first month will be the old picture with “guess who?” under it and the next month will tell who it is with a current picture and a short bio. Let’s join in and have a little fun and learn something about one another. Digital pictures are preferred although I can scan old photos if needed and return them. AND….SEE IF YOU CAN GUESS THE MYSTERY SIR KNIGHT THIS MONTH!! GUESS WHO?
