GRACE AND PEACE TO YOU FROM GOD
MAY/2014 POTCHEFSTROOM
South Africa, Potchefstroom | 6 Esselen Street, BULT | phone +72 065 7513| [email protected]
NEWSLETTER N: 004
As I told you on my 2nd newsletter that I said I am
hungry to know God and now, I learnt a lot about
Him.
The environment here at the base helps me so
much to know God and Ive learnt that your family
and friends influence the relationship that you have
with God and we need to have fellowship with
fellow Christians who can drive you towards God.
I am not saying that Christians mustnt have
friends who are unbelievers but I am saying that
your friends can help you to know God and grow
spiritually. In my case, the staff of YWAM
Potchefstroom and some of my friends encourage
me regularly to approach God.
Actually, I am busy with my vision, when I asked
God: why am I here? He gave me a scripture:
EZEKIEL chapter 2 and 3. So, I am thinking and
trying to interpret my vision with the scripture from
Ezekiel. The thing that I could say in this moment
is that I am here at the base of YWAM
Potchefstroom to get more skills and training, to be
willing of my future in ministry.
Honestly, the picture I got in my head about my
vision is BEACH, SEA and MISSION. It sounds
like a ministry for the youth in Islands or Ill be a
teacher who will travel the entire world. I dont
know yet but keep praying for me that God makes
clear my vision. Ill share the meaning with you on
my next newsletter.
I really appreciate those who didnt forget to pray
for me and I already say thank you for those who
are continuing to pray and bless me to live here.
There are some peoples whom I give special
thanks:
The Leaders of YWAM Potchefstroom who
are my parents and also my mentors. They
really like me and they treat me like their
son.
McMillans family (staff of YWAM Potch)
always shares their blessings with me,
doing things like: taking me with them to
spend one week at Marloth Park and
spending time with their family.
Matt. and Liz is a couple from America.
They are blessing me and the students at
the base.

SOME INFORMATION ABOUT

More about our program at the base that I shared
with you in my 3rd newsletter IKAGENG and
YWAM Potchefstroom, it is going well and the
door is still open for us, thanks to God
Outreach at the University where there are
47000 students. Actually we are busy organizing a
bible study at the Campus for the students. Also,
we are thinking about using the media at the
Student Centre which is a real good way of
changing the atmosphere at the Campus and for
evangelism. We want to create a short movie
about the testimonies and YWAM but unfortunately
we dont have the equipment yet (camera, Laptop).
So we ask to pray for us to find the person who
can provide the equipment.
Outreach Township in IKAGENG, where we try
to preach and help the people for twice a week.
We do two kinds of activities: Bible study for the
children every Sunday, and for the Fathers every
Monday, Games with the children and after we
teach them about Gods word and we do that every
Wednesday.
To have more information about the activities in Ywam Potchefstroom, you can check our website:
www.ywampotch.com or
Facebook: YWAM Potchefstroom.
1. Potchefstroom has a population of 130,000
people and is known today as the city of
expertise because it is home to five tertiary
institutions and 30 schools as well as numerous
research bureaus and training facilities. Most of
the youth are students who speak Afrikaans. At
Campus, there are 47 001 students (Female:
32085 (68%) and Male: 14916 (32%)).
Unfortunately, among of the youth become
sexually active pre-maturely. On the back of
that, there exists a house (hubbly) where they
can smoke freely.
2. HIV positive rates are growing in
Potchefstroom especially in IKAGENG. (In 2010,
30% of South African women who were pregnant
had HIV). Besides, the violence and crime is still
the biggest social problem in Potchefstroom.
3. Apartheid is still a problem. The most of the
jobless-people and beggars in the town are black
people (23, 3% (2011)). And we notice that black
and white people do not engage with one
another easily.
4. Official languages: isiZulu, isiXhosa,
Afrikaans, Sesotho, English, Setswana,
Xitsonga, siSwati, Tshivenda, isiNdebele, Sepedi
and sign language.
5. Religions: Christianity, Muslim, Hinduism,
Judaism and African traditional.
I want to extend my visa: on November 2014, Ill
do my DTS at the base, next year well have 2
courses of leadership (3months) and youth
mobilization (3months). My prayer request is that
you join me in prayer.
We have graduated 2 missionaries (Matt
and Liz) from America on April who
finished their DTS at the base. In fact,
they want to do ministry in Liberia. So we
need to pray for them.
One big room is available at the Base
Christians students house so we need a
prayer to have a person who can rent it.
God called one of our staff to work out of
Potchefstroom.
The DTS team of this year is busy
planning to go do outreach in Russia.
We received a team of 8 missionaries
from DTS Nations Builders Worcester who
stayed in the base for two weeks. While
they were here they did outreach on
campus with our team and both the teams
learnt a lot about each other.
