One of the ways we incorporate this vision is through missions projects. Our upper school students participate in mission trips and community service opportunities. In lower school, students learn about missions in chapel and through special mission projects. Each year our entire student body participates in Operation Christmas Child an outreach program of the international relief organization, Samaritan’s Purse. Since 1993, more than 94 million children in 130 countries have experienced God’s love through the shoe box gifts distributed through Operation Christmas Child. Through this project, our students can truly touch the world as they prepare simple gifts for children in foreign lands. We are pleased to announce that Woodlands Christian collected 480 shoe boxes this year! Thank you Woodlands Christian students and families! ...I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me. WorthyServants

2012

The Worthy Servants program was created several years ago by Woodlands Christian parents to show love and appreciation to the faculty and staff who touch our children’s lives each day and as a way to offer an alternative to buying individual teacher gifts. If you would like to participate this year, you may donate online by clicking here and designate your gift - Worthy Servants. You may also bring or send your donation to Kathy Montes in the Business Office no later than Friday, December 14. All gifts collected will be equally divided among our faculty and staff. These gifts, along with a card, will be presented at the annual faculty and staff Christmas lunch on December 19. Please note: Unless otherwise requested, each donor’s name will be included on the card. As always, Christmas presents or contributions are never required. However, if you are planning to give gifts, please prayerfully consider thanking our outstanding faculty and staff in this way.

Pre-K Learns History Through Music

Pre-kindergarten students learned about the first Thanksgiving using instruments, costumes and songs in Mrs. Casey’s music class.

Fourth Grade Visits Renaissance Festival

The fourth grade class (see photo below) is studying the Renaissance to the Reformation period in history this year, so how fortunate it is that the Renaissance Festival is so close to visit! The festival hosts a “school day” every year in which the grounds are transformed into a huge classroom. During their trip, fourth graders participated in a scavenger hunt, meeting characters of the time period and learning about the role these characters played in history. They also witnessed the Gutenberg printing press, a blacksmith shop, and many other trade industries of the time period. It was great fun!

It’s Blast From The Past Night and all fans are encouraged to come dressed in clothes from their favorite decade - 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s! There’ll be alot of fun

and prizes so make plans to attend!

Warrior Swim Team Update The Woodlands Christian Swim Team sent five qualifying swimmers to the annual TISCA (Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association) meet on November 16-17. The field of competition included 4A schools primarily from the Gulf Coast region. The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Hailey Hanigan, Katie Albertson, Jordan Hanigan and Hannah Bub posted a best time by over four seconds and placed 9th. Hannah Bub and Hailey Hanigan earned the opportunity to return to finals with top eight finishes in their preliminary individual events. Hannah Bub swam the 200 yard individual medley and the 100 yard breaststroke and finished with silver medals in both events (see photo at left). Due to a prior commitment, Hailey Hanigan was unable to compete in the finals. The Warrior swim team will travel to New Caney on December 7 to compete in an invitational meet hosted by New Caney and Porter High Schools.
