The Educa-tion Banyan The launch of an educa-

Shooting Stars

We often spoke about the funfair to each other and were full of

various ideas before we actually got down to real business. As

always, this funfair was a collaborative initiative of the student

body, school management and the PTA. It started off with full

gusto where initially we brainstormed ideas for the funfair. We

came up with the theme of celebrating blockbuster movies

showing our appreciation of the exquisite work done over the

years in the field of films. The stalls were divided into six zones

namely- Horror, Romance, Action, Science-Fiction, Animation

and Fantasy. The décor and the food or games served or played

at the stalls reflected the movies allotted to them. We also had

special song request stall.

NISV organized Dance Vadodara Dance Season II in which schools from across Vadodara participated. However, the most exciting part of the funfair was the class per-

formances. The times we spent with our classmates practising

our dances, the laughter, the chatter is something we will cher-

ish. Initially student s from all the classes danced to the tunes of

the music and brought a big smile on the faces of their parents

who had come to see them. The performances ended with a big

bang where the 12 graders left everyone enthralled. Then the

dance floor was left open and everyone danced their heart out.

SHOOTING STARS was also celebration of the actual stars

within us.

Trinity Examination On 22nd Nov 2013', 15 students of NISV participated in the Trinity Guildhall exam in

Speech and Drama. The exam was conducted at Todden, Vasna. All the students

came out with flying colors , doing themselves and the school proud.

The Children’s Day, on the 14th of No-vember was made special for our Pre-Primary students. Their fun began with a dance performance by the tu-tors which the students thoroughly enjoyed.

The other surprises of the day were a

magic show and puppet show.

Assembly Presentation

The students of Prep Junior were very

excited and enthusiastic as they had their assembly presentations. They put up three different performances where the first group presented a “Story song based on ‘The Lion and the mouse story”, the second group presented a dance to the foot tapping music of “Under the Sea” and the third group presented the rhyme “Boogie Woogie”. It was a treat to watch them perform merrily and confidently.

Children’s Day

Four Corners

Children were surprised to hear the grade tu-tor announcing the new game they were go-ing to learn and play called “Four Corners”.

Children were very enthusiastic to play, hop-ping and dancing to the music played by the grade tutor. When the music stopped the children ran quickly to the corners of their

choice to put four different coloured big blocks. It was amazing to see them guiding and helping each other to stand in the safe corner.

The children enjoyed it so much that it was hard to convince them to return to their homeroom for further activities afterwards.

Christmas Celebrations

The annual Christmas party is an event that is eagerly awaited by the boarders. On this day a surprise gift was left for each boarder in their room while they were in school. They were pleased with this gesture by “Santa Claus”.

The evening prep was cut short by an hour and began with wishes from the Prin-cipal. A round of Hou-sie was played where there were chocolates as prizes to be won. This was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The short evening wound up with a lav-ish dinner with an elaborate menu. As always the evening ended with all looking forward to the next celebration

Events at Boarding

Uttarayan was a low key affair this year at the boarding as just 7 boys stayed back for the weekend. Muc of the day was spent in a very relaxed manner. The exciting bit was that each of them were given their mobile phone for the entire weekend which was unexpected. A movie outing and lunch at Ginger restaurant was also organized. The icing on the cake was an opportunity to “feast” in the hostel with pizzas ordered from Dominos.

Ahmedabad International School, Fountainhead, Surat an

Trek to Pavagadh

Friday 22nd November 8: 30 pm. The bus dropped us off in the middle of the jungle where a dirt road carved its way through the mountain looming above us.

And that was where it all began.

With alert eyes and hushed, whispering voices we made our way up the mountain in a neat single file, amidst the chirping of the crickets. The torches that we grasped in our hands lit our way. We made good time. The sporadic ten min-ute breaks revealed to us a new challenge that we were to brace ourselves for. At one instance, the use of the torches was pro-hibited and we were forced to rely on the light that the stars and the moon shone down on us, while they adorned the night sky. At another, we were finding our source of water, building fires and cooking instant noodles.

The seemingly everlasting trek, did eventually come to an end. The daybreak softly exposed Vananchal, our final destination, where a resort in the form of a brief refuge awaited, along with the challenges of the next two days.
