Principal’s Report
Student safety
Student and Staff safety is something we really take seriously at WMYC. We have recently placed Authorised Vehicle Only signs at the entrances at Huon and Felltimber. Parents should not drive into the school grounds to pick up and drop off their students. At Felltimber the Emerald Avenue pedestrian gates will be left open for parents to access the front office. Thank you to all parents for their cooperation
GPAs
GPA results will be given to students on Friday 19th August. Please encourage your child to talk to their teachers about their progress and to look at areas they can work on to improve their academic results.
The GPA is a great way for you and your child to gauge their progress throughout the year.
Subject based Parent/ Teacher/Student conferences will follow in week 10 on Wednesday 14th September.

Arts Connect - Street Art Excursion
On Tuesday August 9, a group of Year 9 students from Huon and Felltimber boarded a bus to Melbourne for the highly anticipated Arts Connect Graffiti and Street Art excursion. Chris was our tour guide taking us on a two hour walk through Melbourne streets and lanes including Hosier Lane, Rutledge Lane and Union
Lane. Chris talked about the political, social and artistic sides contrasting with some of society’s views on the criminality of graffiti giving the students an insight
into the art form and its history. Union Lane was covered wall to wall with graffiti and colour and amazed the students, while the full building sized portrait by Adnate of an Aboriginal child
was thought provoking and a favourite with the kids.
The students also took part in a two hour stencil/spray paint work shop at Blender Studio, designing, cutting out and spray painting their piece onto a canvas and the Blender Studio laneway ground.
The day was praised by all the students who talked about creating more art work in their own time

Year 8 Boys Netball - Felltimber
On Friday 5th August our Year 8 Boys Netball team rallied together to take on the Hume Region schools in the Boys Netball competition. After some last minute recruiting on Friday morning, the boys quickly gelled to be very competitive. The boys played 5 games, winning 3 games convincingly. The boys adjusted to the game very quickly, learning how to pivot, the meaning of obstruction and contact. Some could even be heard yelling “if you need, if you need”. Congratulations to all of the Year 8 boys on representing the school with such sportsmanship and pride – look out 2017 team!
Dream Team: Jackson Spiers (GS), Tanner Lewko (GA), Ollie Eustace (WA), Aiden Ryan (C), Cody Café Whitehead (WD), Jordan Ross (GD) and Caleb Sofield (GK).
