Dear Families,
Staged Return to School
Over the past two weeks we have been preparing
for the staged return of our students to face to
face teaching and learning. We intend to keep
everyone safe and have planned as much as we
can for this outcome. We will establish new
routines such as regular hand hygiene practise
and re-establish student and teacher
relationships. We will also continue our
commitment to progressing student learning for
every students.
Thank you to all the families who made the time
last Wednesday for our WebEx parent session.
Prep - Year 2 Return
Today we have had a smooth first day back with
the younger students enjoying getting to spend
time with their friends again. They also had an art
lesson with Jo.
Remote Learning
Those students still at home have not been
forgotten with MSL and 1:1 sessions available
with Mr Armitage and Mrs Maddison. Students
are also encouraged to finish their space poster,
complete an Art lesson or 2 and do some of the
Living Green work.
Instrumental Music Lessons
Unfortunately due to staffing restrictions the Year
4s due to commence lessons will be unable to do
so this year. Our senior students have enjoyed 1:1
lessons remotely this term with Braam and this
has continued for them today. Thanks to the
secondary college for making this possible,
Resource Smart Schools Update
Last weeks writing prompt was about water
pollution. Has anyone noticed how clear the
water in the Kiewa River is since we have had
all that rain? To help prompt your child to write
about this you may want to take a walk down
by the river and discuss this while comparing it
with photos of the Yarra River in Melbourne.
Living Green
It has been great to receive some students’
work regarding the Living Green tasks that
were made available last week. Well done to
Rowan and Harry for researching and writing
about how to fix a leaking tap. Well done to
Emily Macklan for her extensive research on
the water habitat for the sea otter. All of these
works will be submitted to Resource Smart
Schools to go towards our water module,
getting us that little bit closer to a fourth star!
Any further work will also be helpful in our
school moving forward in our quest for our
fourth Resource Smart Schools star.
Staff and School email addresses
The department is slowly migrating staff email
addresses over to allow for increased
capabilities including the use of Office 365. Last
week all staff successfully (with a few hiccups
on Monday) navigated this change. Please note
that our new email addresses now have the
following format:
The school email address is now
All emails sent to old addresses will continue to
be received for the next few months.

Tawonga Primary School is turning 140 in July. To
celebrate we will be holding an afternoon
Devonshire tea for all past, present and future
students and their families, as well as anyone in the
community who would like to come along. We will
have displays of photos past and present, old
enrolment books and any other items which we can
bring together. We are asking anyone who may
have been a student or has family members who
were students in the past to have a look around for
any memorabilia which may be used for this day.
We are hoping to have a display of current students’
work as well.
Any items can be dropped off at the school office or
copies of photos can be emailed to
Watch this space for dates and times!!
140th Birthday
Turn your water off at the mains.
Go back inside and find your leaking tap.
Loosen screw and take the handle out.
Take the nut away.
Replace the washers.
Put the tap back together and test!
By Harry.
