The MHSA Newsletter is a new concept and addition to theMHSAinwhichthisnewtoolwewillbeusedtoensurethatour

esteemedmembersareregularlyupdatedwithwhatsgoingonandwhatexcitingupcomingeventsareinstore.

WethereforeinviteyoutotakeafewminutestoreadthroughthisNewsletter toupdate yourself, get toknowusmore, and

hopefullyfurtherencourageyoutoattendourupcomingeventsandtohelpushelpYOUinyouracademicneeds.

Firstwellstartoffwithabriefintroductionexplainingwhatthe

MaltaHealthStudentsAssociationisallabout.

The MHSA is a senate recognized students' organisationrepresentingallstudents'withintheFacultyofHealthSciences

attheUniversityofMalta.

Itisavoluntarynon-profitandapolitical organisationanditsmain priorities as set by the organisations statute are

topromotehealth,educationandstudentrights.Withaspecialfocusonacademic,socialandpublichealthawarenessissues.

The MHSA was proud to

organise this years Football

Tournament which was held

on the 29th of December

2012. Alltogether 200 Euros

was raised for Dar tal-

Priovidenza. Our 12 teams

gaveitalltheyhad,butinthe

end we could only have one

winner.Thatteamwasknown

as Bad News and wascomposed of these talented

players: Kurt Muscat, Stefan

Cortis, Mario Bonello, Isaac

Zammit Cordina,

andKyleMuscat.

On the 28th March 2012 themhsaEDUCATION sucbommittee joined forces with

U.E.S.A(University EngineeringStudentsAssociation) todeliveran informative threehour seminar regarding Medical Technology and how medical devices have shaped

healthcareandformedafundamentalcomponenttothedeliveryofhealthcare.

All6speakersfromvariousdisciplinesregardinghealthcareandengineeringdelivered

veryinsightfultalkstotheroughly85attendees.

AfterthefirsthighlysuccessfulT.R.A.I.N. incollaborationwithMMSAlastNovember,MHSAdecidedtogivetheopportunityagaintoanother14charismaticandcreative

individuals.MHSAtrainersaregoingtoleadworkshopswhichhavebeendesignedto

teach and improve on various skills which a trainer is expected to have such aseffective public speaking, presentation skills and leadership skills, aswell as basic

Photoshopskills.Apartfromfurtherdevelopingskillswhichyouwillsurelyfinduseful

in your daily life as a student andon your work place, these skills will also aid toeffectively implement various MHSA initiatives throughout the year.

Participants are expectedto formpartoftheFacultyofHealthSciencesandwillbe

receivingacertificateofcompletion,providedthattheworkshopisattendedinfull.
