Hi All,

Our last cruise saw us travel to Hamilton where Mick and Rob had organized access to two

fantastic museums, we firstly headed to Campe’s motor museum where I was surprised by

the terrific collection of vehicles and motor memorabilia. Our host Glen was very informa-

tive and gave us all a run down on some of the wonderful vehicles in his collection. For any-

one who has not seen this museum I would say it is a must for any motor enthusiast.

Our next stop was Alexander House for lunch and General meeting where Jenny

Lee was presented the latest Goats Award for her efforts of turning up a week early for our

Car Display at Lake Pertobe. Discussion was also had with regards to having a goal for the

club, some suggestions raised were club trailer/vehicle for transporta-

tion of club gear etc and possibly obtaining club rooms. These discus-

sions will continue and anyone with ideas should not hesitate in con-

tacting myself or any of the committee members.

Finally we headed to the pastoral museum for a look at our

past and a demonstration by the local wood turning club, their display

is also well set up and proves that without volunteers a lot of these

displays and items would not exist. The kids also headed to the minia-

ture railway for a ride or two. A new display is underway at the muse-

um and when finished will be well worth a return trip, see some of

the photos for this future display.

This month we welcome back John and Melis-

sa’s Scavenger hunt, the day will begin at the KFC car park from

10am, cars will be let go in a staggered start and will be given in-

structions at time of departure. Our destination is Mt Eccles so make

sure you are fuelled up and ready for a great day, BBQ facilities are

available so bring some meat or the location is perfect for a picnic.

Hope to see you all there as this will be a great day.

Roads

Chances that a road is unpaved:

in the U.S.A = 1%; in Canada = 75%

United States

The Eisenhower interstate

system requires that one mile in every five

must be straight. These straight sections are

usable as airstrips in times of war or other emer-

gencies.

Detroit

Woodward Avenue in Detroit, Michigan carries the designation M-1.

So named because it was the first paved road anywhere.

Out of the FJ’s

Glove Box …..

I had a TERRIFIC Club Cruise up to Hamilton and enjoyed everyone's company and the general mood

of the day– we have a FANTASTIC club made up of FANTASTIC members- THANKS everyone—it

shows the strength of our club. Both museums took my interst and I could have easily spent more time

at both– I think I will definitely return at a later date.

This month we head of to Mt Eccles for a Scavenger Hunt– it will be a

blast—many thanks to Melissa and John for organising the day for us. How

much fun can you have in an old Holden ……………...

Have YOU got some ideas to improve YOUR club? Send them along /ring

up/ email and we can continue to keep the good times rolling!

We have a TREMENDOUS club that is made up of so many FANTASTIC

members who are keen to enjoy their Holdens and new friends and add something to the club.

CLUB PLATES - It is amazing to see so many club members at our meetings taking advantage of the

Club Plate Scheme to breathe life into our ICONIC HOLDENS. Pease be aware that you have to be a

financial member for your rego to be legal. The club is obliged to notify VicRoads if your membership

is not paid on time (31st July for the following year) and your rego will become void. Please pay your

memberships before 31st July each year to ensure that your car remains legally registered ( and thus

insured also).

Mt Eccles Scavenger Hunt 18th May, 2014

BBQs = 4 in two separate areas with two hot plates between each BBQ plate, I assume for a kettle.

No coins required. They looked clean and are fairly new. Ladies and Gents Toilets complete with showers (no idea Ken, maybe for people who forget) There is a camping ground near by, plenty of walking tracks and an information centre. Just by looking at the terrain, sturdy footwear may be advisable.

Rules for the Scavenge Hunt will be: * Take the bag you are given at the Start line complete with shopping list inside. * Does everyone have the same shopping list ???????

* Your shopping list will contain items that can be found en route (that means found on the way) * All your items must fit inside the bag (kindly donated by HALLMARK, when you only want to send the best) * It is not a timed event, you will be judged by your completed shopping list. * All rules must be followed and road rules adhered to, or you will be flogged. * Picnic lunch or meat for the BBQ will be required by entrants, if someone hits a Kangaroo, we can utilize it! * Your bag will also contain a Google map which may help some people, others I'm not so sure. ** The trip has been measured at 162km Warrnambool to Warrnambool, please adjust for other places

** First car to depart at 10:00am Sharp from KFC car park, the rest will follow at 3 minute intervals. Melissa & John Welch
