Aztec of the Month
Brenda Arteaga I am Single-Subject student in the teaching credential program. I
transferred out of IVC to SDSU-IV during the fall of 2016 to work on
my B.A in History. My time at SDSU-IV has been incredibly eye-
opening and educational experience. Not just in terms of academics,
but lifelong knowledge. This campus is where I came into myself as a
person. It's where I realized what my true calling was. It's where I met
people that changed my life for the better. It's the place where I
matured the most. And it's the place where I found my true love:
traveling. While in the Undergrad program, I was involved with Aztecs
Around the World and studied abroad in Ireland during the summer of
2018. I also got to travel through the United Kingdom and France. This
was one of the most enriching experiences I've ever had, despite how
awful my sunburns were. I'm absolutely positive none of this would
have happened without the help of SDSU-IV, its wonderful instructors,
or my amazing classmates. I also maintained a 4.0 GPA for the entirety
of my program. At the time of my graduation, I was chosen as the
Outstanding Graduate Senior in History (2018). I chose to come to
SDSU-IV because I feel that our small campus exemplifies some of the
values that I hold very dear. SDSU-IV has a tight-knit sense of
community, smaller class sizes, value for money, and the opportunities
to create bonds with both my classmates and professors. I hope to
become a history teacher at a middle or high school level. I plan to
continue my education by earning a master's or even a doctorate's
degree in my field, so I can then teach at a college level. If all goes
well, I may even find myself working at this wonderful campus as a
history professor.
