Combined Learning Community
We have our new learning community starting next week. The learning community is
offering individual educational programs pertinent to individual student’s needs and
programs. Planning has been the priority of the teaching staff involved. This exciting
proposal will implement programs such as literacy and numeracy based learning, Art
and H&PE based on the Victorian Curriculum. It will build in routines and practical
learning producing quality of life outcomes and fundamental skills that will provide
the basis for interacting with people. Timetables and staffing names have been sent
home to the student’s involved. Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time if you
have any questions. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone engaged in their
learning daily.
WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY – was Monday 5th October and is
to be celebrated at Lightning Reef P.S on Wednesday 19th Octo-
ber)
Encourage your child to acknowledge their teacher on Wednesday with a nice smile, a
note, a card or something they wish to say that makes their teacher feel good!

PBS Focus for term 4
This term we are looking at our school value of CO-OPERATION
This week we will focus on Listening to others. This includes doing
whole body listening – i.e. looking at the person who is talking, listen-
ing to the person talking and standing/sitting still with hands in your
lap/by your side, acknowledging what others are saying , answering
questions or acting on instructions and taking turns to talk.
Staff will be looking for students showing listening to others and giv-
ing them Gold Cards they can use at our Exchange. Students will con-
tinue to get Gold Cards for continuing to show respect for our environ-
ment, respect for others and respect for property
It would be great if you could praise your child/children for do-
ing the same at home.
Book Club
Book Club orders need to be back at school by October 24th.
Library News
The library is open every morning before school, except for Fri-
days. Some parents have already become members and are regu-
larly borrowing books. It would be great to see more parents
come in. We now have a small collection of books including
fiction, biographies and autobiographies just for parents. Parents
are also welcome to come and borrow books for younger sib-
lings.

Empowering Eaglehawk 10 Year Celebration
We had 6 members of the Bolters represent our school at the Empowering Eaglehawk Celebration last Fri-
day.
With many people in attendance, this was an excellent event to showcase our school to the wider commu-
nity. Thanks to the 6 students and their families for helping out at this event. 3/4 students during Art. Well done
Mrs Roberts.

Last term the Prep students got to ‘Stay and Play’ after
school.
The afternoon started with the children sneaking into
the Principals office and scaring Julie and Miss Ryan
when they came in! Miss Ryan and Julie were very
surprised.
Children then got to share in an afternoon tea in the
staffroom! Jayden Taylor said that he was so full he
could hardly walk!
After afternoon tea, they had a play and joined in on a
game of Pass the Parsel.
Before they knew it, it was time to go home.
