Agility Equipment

As discussed at the agm In March we have

reviewed our equipment at club and have

decided to purchase 20 new sets of jumps,

a seesaw and dog walk to be painted in our

club colours, burgundy and camel. The only

problem is, is that we will have to wait until

September/October for them to be

delivered as the manufacturers are

extremely busy. It does mean we have

something to look forward to, to see us

through the long winter months but lets not

talk about snow at this moment in time!!

Stour Valley Calendar 2010

So far we have had some amazing

photos of your dogs submitted for the

calendar but there are one or two of you

that I might need to be nagged so be

warned I will be coming after you!!

The deadline is end of July but if you can

send them sooner that would be great. My

email address is [email protected]

Below is an example of just one.

Note from the Treasurer

As you are aware we have a new

treasurer, Judi Cross. Judi has asked me to

remind all members that training fees are

due 1st Thursday of each month and Judi

is keen to run a tight ship. Like most of us

Judi has a day job and it would be helpful

if you could be prompt with your fees.

There are now forms at club for those

wishing to pay by standing order. In the

first instance this will be from August to

December 2010 and works out at £12 per

month (allowing for 2 weeks closed at

Christmas). A new form will be needed for

2011 when Judi works out fees based on

the full year. The completed forms need

to be handed in by 1st July in order to get

them processed by the bank.

If you are in any doubt please speak with

Judi and she will be more than happy to

help you.

Thank you

Club Show 18th/19th Sept 2010

This is a very important date in our clubcalendar. For those new members I willexplain what is required to organise ashow of this size. Apart from all theofficial Kennel Club stuff for the showwhich the committee work onthroughout the year we also have toarrange for caterers to provide us withenough food to feed up to 600 peopleper day, toilet facilities, camping for 100pitches. Health and safety stuff. Printedrosettes, engraved trophies, heaps ofpaperwork required by the kennel club, ring parties, no not your cocktail kindbut a party of people who volunteer towork on a ring. Each ring requires atleast 10-12 people, enough to allowpeople to rotate jobs whilst others arerunning their dogs.

Ring parties are required from otherclubs as we could not do it with just ourclub members, and they all volunteer todo this just as our club members do fortheir shows. We of course offerincentives like reduced entry fees andpreferential parking as we do for our ownclub members that help.

Now all this might sound daunting if youare about to do this for the first time butrest assured we will not throw you in atthe deep end and you will always haveexperienced club members with youshowing you what to do. Some of thejobs involve you sitting down on theedge of the ring waiting to pick up polesif they were to fall down, or collecting aleads as they begin their run and takingit to the finish line, whilst being able towatch the agility at the same time. The

more experienced members willprobably be doing the scoring for thejudge and you can watch and learn.

The show opens early at 7.30am andjudging normally starts at 8.30pm afterthe judges briefing. There will be plentyof hot and cold fluids, and nibbles, available on the rings and of course youwill be entitled to a lunch voucher.

In past years we have had good weatherand bad weather, unfortunately wecannot predict what sort we will have butusually in September the weather isusually good. We work hard but have alot of fun also and we all manage tocompete as well, even the beginners. Todo this you must be registered with theKennel Club and have your dogmeasured into its appropriate height. Please liaise with your instructor aboutthis and we will get you set up forentering. Entries close 2nd August so bewarned!

Our show will be over two days18th/19th September but we also needhelp with setting up the show onThursday night and all day Friday so ifyou could bear that in mind and are ableto take time off work on those days wewould very much appreciate your help.

Soon we will be putting a 'Helpers List' onthe table at club of all our members andwe ask you to tick the relevant name tosay whether you can help or not.

We really do need all your help so bewarned I will be looking for lots of ticksagainst your name!!!!
