Transcript of NEWSLETTER JANUARY(EN)
Tip of the month:
After a long break from the court and possible
overindulgence this holiday season, you will no
doubt be excited to get that first match under your
belt as soon as possible. START SLOWLY!
Speaking from experience the chances of injury
are a lot greater when coming back from a break.
Spend the extra 1015 minutes in the gym
warming up and stretching before getting out
there. It is a great investment to ensure a healthy
body through out the season.

Wikipedia suggests that this Cocktai l originated at
the "Manhattan Club" in New York City during the
1 870s, invented by Dr. Iain Marshall for a banquet
hosted by Jennie Jerome (a.k.a. Lady Randolph
Churchill, mother of Winston) in honour of
presidential candidate Samuel J.
Tilden. However, Lady Randolph was in
France at the time, expecting a child, so
this story is l ikely fiction. There are prior
references to various similar cocktai l
recipes called "Manhattan" and served
in the Manhattan area, but no real
history has ever been verified about it's
origin. The original "Manhattan cocktai l" was a mix
of Bourbon, I tal ian Vermouth and Angostura
bitters. "The Metropolitan" is a variation on the
"Manhattan Cocktail" made using Brandy, a
combination of Sweet and Dry Vermouth, lemon
zest and cherry which offers a more robust and
less sweet taste than it's Rye or Bourbon Cousin
making for a great digestif.
1 1 /2oz. Brandy
1 /2oz. Sweet Vermouth
1 /2oz. Dry Vermouth
dash of Agnostura Bitters
dash of cherry reduction
Twist of Lemon, Maraschino cherry
Method: Combine all liquid in mixing glass and
shake, pour over ice. Garnish with the twist of
Lemon and Maraschino Cherry.
