ANZAC March On ANZAC Day we remembered those who gave their lives for us. We marched across the streets of Inverell with pride in our red and white. As we marched closer to the Ceremony we saw a table laid with wreaths. Girls, boys, men and women were building up their bravery to stand up straight and tell their stories with pride. As the roaring jets pass by everybody looks up with a smile and twinkling eyes. When the musician sounds the bugle everyone stands in peace. As the crowd falls apart the rest of the day sees the flags blow silently in the wind. By Annie and Matilda 2017 Cross Country The annual Cross Country Carnival was held last Friday. Well done to all our students who participated with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship. A special thank you to all parents, carers and friends who helped support such a successful event. Grip Leadership Yesterday 42 IPS students travelled to Armidale for the Grip Leadership Conference. Topics covered included “Leading in the Land of Zootopia”, “Expectations of Responsibilities”, “Outside the Box” and “Turning Ideas into Actions”. All of the students learnt valuable skills in Leadership which we know they will use at IPS and throughout their lives. They had a fun and informative day.

Sports Report Good luck to all students competing at the Soccer and Touch Zone Trials this Friday at the complex.

NAPLAN Student letters have gone home with information about the Year 3 and 5 NAPLAN testing which will commence next Tuesday 9th May and conclude on Thursday 11th May, 2017. There will be a catch up session on Friday 12th May. If parents have any questions regarding NAPLAN please call Mrs Campbell on 67223072.

New Staff We would like to welcome a new staff member at IPS. Miss Sarah Endres is teaching on class 1/2A as Miss Archibald has taken a position in Tamworth. We wish Miss Archibald all the best in her new role and look forward to having Miss Endres expertise at our school.

Updating Contact Details As there are times when the school needs to contact parents it is very important for us to be notified of any changes to phone numbers and addresses. If you have recently changed your details please notify the school as soon as possible so all forms of communication can be updated.

ANZAC Soldiers 3/4D have demonstrated a deep understanding about our ANZAC soldiers. Students drew a portrait of a serving soldier. Many discussions were had about the art work. This term students will be completing an Independent Research Task on World War 2. We are learning about the sacrifices soldiers have made to allow us to have a free life full of choices.
