EUapps 4us Newsletter 23th-27th February 2016 Meeting in Istanbul 23th Arrival and lodging of participants at AC Hotel Istanbul Macka by Marriott. All the teams from Turkey, Spain, Lithuania and Norway were meeting at the hotel for an introduction and discussing the agenda for the meeting 24th Starting up with the first step of the training. First session started with an introduction of the software and the layout. The software is called MIT App Inventor 2, and is a free software used to develop apps for android phones. What is MIT App Inventor? MIT App Inventor is an innovative beginner’s introduction to programming and app crea- tion that transforms the complex language of text-based coding into visual, drag-and-drop building blocks. The simple graphical interface grants even an inexperienced novice the ability to create a basic, fully functional app within an hour or less. http://appinventor.mit.edu/explore/about-us.html To get started we needed a Google account, so the first step is to create and log in to the account. After this, we were ready to start. Next step is to prepare the content. We already have the content ready in a power point, so the only thing we had to do is to convert the PPT to images. Then were ready to build the app.

25th Continuing the work. Starting with the layout, and placing the images from the PowerPoint in the App In-ventor. Placing five or six slides per app screen. This was a lot of work and we used almost the whole day to get all the images in to the app. We also started on the quiz and placing the questions in the app. But the main work and the interactive functions

26th Continuing the work. We needed to program the buttons and the quiz. This is the most complicated part of the production. It was also very important to get it right so that the app would work perfectly. When this was completed, we would have a working app. Everyone at the meeting ended up with one app each, that worked (almost) perfectly.
