Are you tired of always running late, losing your keys, forgetting to do things? Then you need to come to Organizational Zen with Janie Downey Max- well on Saturday, January 14, from 1:30 –3:00. Janie will share tips on how to keep control of time and get more accomplished each day. She is an organizational habits expert in big projects, everyday tasks and other areas. This is the first of the many programs the Friends of the Library will host at the Library in 2017. Turn to page two to see the Speakers’ Series schedule through May. This is a perfect opportunity to pick up all of the baked goods for you, your family and guests. Cookies, cakes, pies and other seasonal delights will be available - so forget baking and come by the bank to select your treats and support the library! With the help of residents of the Medomak Mobile Home Cooperative, the Library installed a Little Library for the residents to use and enjoy. The intent is to create a neighborhood book swap cen- ter for those who enjoy reading but can’t get to the library. We hope to install a few more around town. Many thanks to volunteer Fred Bischoff for building this. This is the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. The original paper declaring this, and 14 others from World War II, will be on display in the Library’s halls in January and February. Many thanks to Dan and Suzanne Goldenson for this generous loan and making a piece of history come alive for us. For years, the ‘Love Your Library’ auc- tion has been in February. This year, we will be combining the silent auction with a live auction event on July 8. From now until then, the Library will be collecting items for the auc- tion such as furniture, art, firearms, boats, collections of items such as stamps, etc. in addition to the usual offerings of gift certificates, services, and an assort- ment of goods. SAT., JANUARY 14– 1:30 PM – Organizational Zen by Jamie Downey Maxwell.

SAT., FEBRUARY 11– 1:30 PM – Deborah Benner, editor of the annual Goose River Anthology, will hold a

question and answer session on how to get published.

SAT., MARCH 11– 1:30 PM - Waldoboro author, Brooke Pacy, will talk about her thriller, Vanishing Act.

SAT., APRIL 8– 1:30 PM – Jean Flahive, author of the Civil War historical fiction novel, Billy Boy: the Sunday

soldier of the 17th Maine, will talk about this novel based on the story of Billy Laird, a Civil War soldier from Ber-

wick, Maine.

TUES., MAY 9– 7:00 PM Local artist, Jay Sawyer, aka JBone, will talk about his “Sculpture Soup”, a series of

sculptures inspired by the English alphabet. Mr. Sawyer is the creator of the ‘Sculpture Garden’ that is located on

Route 90 in Warren.

this time creating beautiful handmade

items for the holidays.

For sale are foldable candle holders

(shown on left), for $20, Shut-the-Box

games for $10, and Advent calendar

chalets for $35.

Up for bid in Fred’s silent auction are “Rocky

Hoss”, a dinosaur train (both shown here), and an

animal train. Bidding closes on December 21.

All proceeds will benefit the Library. Thank you,

Fred!

With his respects to famous artists, Andrew Wyeth,

George Bellows, Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper, Henri

Rousseau, Paul Gaugin, and Edgar Degas, Waldoboro

artist, Chris Augusta, playfully and skillfully features

Santa in their well-known works.

These paintings are now on display through December

AND they are printed on Christmas cards that may be

purchased at the Library. Each package of eight cards is

$15, with $3 of each sale given to the Library. Many

thanks to Chris for his generosity.

The Book Group meets the fourth Monday of the month at 7:00 PM. All are welcome!

Next meeting: January 24, 2017 The group will be discussing Braving It, by James Campbell, and I’ll See You in Paris, by Michelle Gable.
