Help Them Walk Again

In 2007 the Centre for Handicapped set up an Endowment Fund to help meet the constant demand

for artificial limbs for the needy. Endowments in perpetuity, comprising lump sum payments of Rs.

150,000/- each, are carefully invested and the interest is used to provide limbs to a number of

recipients each year. Donors receive details about the recipients and how they lost limbs, as well as

photographs of them both before and after the fitting of the limb. The Funds are either Permanent

Funds or Memorial Funds. Each bear names chosen by the donor, often in memory of dear departed

family members. During this Quarter 20 recipients received limbs through these endowments and we

were happy to welcome many of the generous donors to the Centre to meet “their” recipients and

hand over their new limbs.
