PARENT’S EVENING FOR CLASS 3Miss Bennett has started
working with Class 3 and is very
keen to get to know your
children as quickly as possible.
We have been working with Miss
Bennett so that she is ready to
plan exciting work for the Year 2
and Year 3 children in her care.
As I have previously said, we are
in the process of arranging a
parent’s evening for the parents
of Class 3 children. I am looking
for this to take place in the first
couple of weeks back in January;
this gives Miss Bennett chance
to get the know the children
really well.
QUESTIONNAIRES
Thank you for your completed
questionnaires. So far we have
had 24 paper responses and 16
electronic responses. This
information will help us to do
even better! It has been very
interesting reading your
comments, positive and
constructive suggestions of
where the school can improve. I
MUSICClass 5 have been enjoying
playing their new musical
instruments during the past few
weeks. They have all been given
the opportunity to play either a
trombone, cornet or baritone for
10 weeks. They all have a music
lesson on Friday afternoon, led
by Mr Peach and Mrs Reid. After
the end of this set of free lessons,
they have the opportunity to
carry on the lessons in school.
I have heard some fantastic
playing from the children
already...they sound like a real
band! I know that the children
have loved playing at home...I
hope you have enjoyed their
playing too!!
STRIKE ACTION
As you will appreciate, the
reasons behind the strikes are
complex; after much
consideration, the school staff
have decided not to take strike
action on Wednesday 30th
November, therefore, the school
will remain open as normal.

AUTUMN TERM 2011
SCHOOL BUILDING WORK
It has been interesting to look
back over the newsletters this
term to see how the building
work has progressed. It is
difficult to see the building with
all the fencing and cabins that
surround it. I have been visiting
the site regularly over the past
few weeks and I am pleased to see
that the progress is very quick
now.
The classrooms should be ready
for us to move into from the 12th
December. On Friday 9th
December, Classes 4 and 5 will be
working together in the hall as
the building contractors help us
to move furniture from Class 4
and the hall into the new
classrooms. We have ordered new
furniture for these classrooms
which should be with us by the
end of the term...so come the New
Year, all will be very smart and
ready for some fantastic learning
opportunities to take place!
I am in the process of arranging
an ‘official opening’ ceremony in
the New Year...more details to
follow soon!
COMPETITION
I have asked the children if they
would like to enter a competition;
the winners of the competition
will be chosen to help ‘cut the
ribbon’ as our school extension is
officially opened...one child from
the Infants and one from the
Juniors.
For the competition, I would like
the children to design what they see as their ideal classroom...or a
classroom of the future...or what
they would like a classroom to
BUILDING WORK UPDATE
...and our new front door...we can’t wait to have a door again and Mrs
Stubbs is looking forward to getting
back into her office! Oil tank goes next
week too!
Yes...I have been told that in two and
a bit weeks, it will be ready! Radiators
being installed along the glass-walled
corridor...paint and carpet in the next
few days...
look like. This can be presented
on a piece of A4 or A3 paper as a
plan drawing or a picture. It can
be coloured and have labels/notes
to explain the different parts. I
will ask members of the school
staff and governors to judge the
competition.
Can all entries be in school
before the end of the school
term? Winners will be
announced in the New Year,
ready for our grand opening!
REMINDERCan I please remind you that we
have recently sent out letters
about theatre visits for both the
Infants and Juniors. We would be
grateful for the return of slips
and the money as soon as
possible so that the final
arrangements can be made.
