Zoe Fisher and Mellery King played for Coastals Reserves in their close win over Demons. The Reserves team was undefeated during the season and coached by Tingara's own Karen Turnbull. Karen's JC1 Tingara team presented the premiership medallions to the winning Coastals Reserves team members (and they looked great!). There were also a large number of Tingara players, parents and supporters at both games. Congratulations to all! Congratulations also to Claire Pickerill for winning the “Most Improved” award for the 18s team at the recent Coastals windup.

Club Spirit A BIG thank you to all the players who have been filling in for teams that have been short over the school holidays. A lovely example was our SB4 team, which was left with just 2 players last weekend. The Tingara Committee (and other mature supporters...) decided to take matters into their own hands and volunteered to play under the FNA "voucher" system. What a great effort! Although the revamped SB4 team was beaten, spirits were high and a moral victory was claimed. A terrific effort ladies!! The players are pictured (left to right): Gill Ryan, Michele Burton, Maddy Gorman, Chloe Goulios, Di McGrath, Sue Curtis, Susi Dennis, Meredith Thorn and Keryn Rae

The Tingara Committee would like to remind all its players and their families of the need to treat our netball coaches with the utmost respect. Our wonderful coaches are all volunteers and try their best at all times. Please respect their energy, their commitment and their ideas and training methods – they are the coaches and they must be treated with appropriate courtesy and consideration

The Tingara Grading Committee is seeking volunteers to assist next season’s preliminary grading by observing the players in matchplay during the last round of games in August. If anyone is interested in assisting in this regard, again contact one of our Grading Co-ordinators (please refer to the Club website for contact details).

We would like to remind everyone to please help put the netballs away after training. This will help save our Club money to pay for fun stuff like courses, umpires, equipment and awesome wind ups - we don't want to waste it buying replacement netballs!

A large number of Tingara senior players enjoyed a Sundowner at the Tradewinds Hotel in East Fremantle on 13 June, after excellent performances on the courts!

Tingara Player Profile Here is the next in our series of Tingara player profiles:

• Name: Mellery King • Age: 20 • Study Status: 3rd year physiotherapy

student at Curtin University • 2015 Tingara Grade: SA2 • Siblings at Tingara: My sister Shannon

played for Tingara for 10 years, with her last season being in 2005. She now lives in Geraldton, but watches me play whenever she can.

• Other netball teams I play for: Coastals Reserves

• Time at Tingara: This is my 13th straight year, having started in 2003 when I was 8.

• Favourite Court Position: Goal Attack • Best netball moments so far: Being part

of the winning Tingara 17(2) grand final team in 2011 and the Tingara SA3 team in 2013. Also, being part of the premiership winning Coastals teams in 2013 in the 18s and in the last 2 years with the Coastals Reserves.

• What I like about Tingara: My family has been involved with Tingara for over 20 years, so I suppose I take the Club for granted… But it’s the Club members that make Tingara a great place to play netball – my fantastic teammates, the great coaches and all of the friendly and enthusiastic supporters.

• Goals for 2015: I played in the winning Reserves Coastals premiership team (with Zoe Fisher) last month, and that was a big goal for this year. Of course, I would love to help the Tingara SA2 team win the Grand Final and get promoted to SA1 next year!

The team photo on the left is Mellery’s 2006 Tingara JE1 team – can you recognize some other faces?
