Please be mindful of our local residents when parking around our school and respect the right to have their driveway clear and accessible at all times.

We would like to focus particular attention on the Church Car Park as we are in discussion with the Church regarding the use of this area and there has been concern expressed

YEAR 6 FAMILIES

A reminder to all year 6 families that it is very important that your child is enrolled in a Secondary School for 2019.

Transition Forms went home last week. Don’t hesitate to come and speak to us if we can be of support.

PRIVATE MUSIC LESSONS With consistent annual increase in enrolment over the last few years it has become very

challenging to provide adequate designated space for private instrumental music lessons. Unfortunately our offer of before school, during lunch time and after school space in the

school house doesn’t work for Performing Arts Headquarters staff. Should space become available in the future PAHQ would love to resume their relationship

with BMPS and recommence Instrumental Music lessons. JohnPaul and his staff would like to thank students, staff and families for their support,

friendship and creative collaborations. He also wanted to thank the School Leadership and School Council for trying so hard to make it possible to continue.

PAHQ will contact students who currently learn at BMPS, and find times in their After School programs to accommodate them.

Thank you very much to JohnPaul and the team at PAHQ for igniting a passion for music and developing extensive relationships with many children and families over many years.

PE/SPORT We have only been back for two weeks and already some very exciting activities have occurred in PE

and Sport.

CROSS COUNTRY

Last Friday we had our annual Cross Country event for our Grade Four to Six students. We were very

fortunate with the weather and there were some fantastic performances by many of our children.

The first five students in each age group will represent BMPS at the District Cross Country on Friday

May 11th at Mason’s Lane. We wish them well.

DISTRICT ATHLETICS

This Friday our 61 strong Athletics team will compete against other children in the district. We look

forward to hearing about their performances and once again wish them all the best for their events.

WHEELTALK

On Tuesday Disability Sport and Recreation representative, Orfeo took a selected group of children

for a ‘Wheeltalk’ session that included information about different Disability Sports as well as an

experience in Wheelchair Basketball. Orfeo also relayed the story of how he came to being in a

wheelchair and the challenges he faced and overcame. Once again Noah blitzed the field with his

initial race down the court followed very closely by his very determined Mum, Kat (who could not

quite catch him).

Everyone had a great time and agreed that it was a ‘tricky challenge’, but all improved with

persistence and practise.

Thanks again to Kat for planting the seed and to staff/children in 2S, 3S, 3M and 5H for rearranging

schedules to participate.

SPORTING SCHOOLS

This week Grade Two children commenced a four week experience in AFL football. This is part of our

Sporting Schools program. Grade Three will start a Basketball program later in the Term as part of

their regular weekly sport session.

We look forward to sharing more of BMPS sporting achievements throughout the term as each

event unfolds.

Dear Parents and Carers

All of the children will be involved in another House Competition this term – the House Spelling Bee!

Children are encouraged to use a range of strategies taught at school to learn to spell the words in

their specific grade level list. In Week 3 of this term, the children will be given the chance to spell

their words in the classroom. Every correctly spelled word will earn them a point for their House.

From these scores, we will be able to determine the Champion Spelling House for 2018.

In addition to the Champion House, we will be looking for the champion Pentland, Manor, Laradoc

and Merrimu House Speller. We will then have a ‘spell-off’ in the following assembly weeks to

celebrate these super spellers!
