WavePower and Social Media
All swimmers must be aware of using social media
and we would urge you all to read the guidance on the
WavePower website – see page 82, points 1 to 7.
In particular, point 7 states:-
“Always be aware that social networking sites are a
method of communication like letter writing and the
spoken word. They are bound by the same laws and
rules. Such technology is instant and this allows you
as the user to react in the ‘heat of the moment’, where
in the past you would have been required to write a
letter, which would have taken time and allowed for
you to think again before sending. So never place a
comment on the internet that you would not put in
writing or say to the individual concerned face to face
as to do so may not only breach ASA Policy but also
the law.” This information is taken from the
WavePower website.

for seniors Hannah Brown, Tom Pack and Ashley Thomasson whilst Stuart Chisnall swam his first Masters event.

Mid Beds Swim Squad 9th & 10th May
Armed with 35 swimmers, poolside coach’s and parents team WASC descended on Saxon Pool Biggleswade on
9th & 10th May for the Mid Beds Swim Squad open meet.
Swimmers from Excel Junior, Senior and Performance squads enjoyed an exceptional weekend of racing with
PB’s and medals galore. 24 swimmers won medals which totalled 46 Golds, 28 Silver and 25 Bronze, WASC
also achieved 2 123’s and numerous club records were broken amongst the many highlights.
To make the meet more interesting there was a trophy for the best visiting club, awarded based on points from
every race (6 for 1st to 1 for last). We knew we were doing well but until the points were called at the beginning
of Sunday morning’s session we had no idea of how well. After day 1 Team WASC was leading by 30 points
which got us all buzzing and determined to try even harder! By midway through the last day our lead was cut to
just ½ a point and the fight was on. Some amazing swims in the evening session kept us focused until the last
race was completed and we all eagerly awaited the results. The fantastic effort from WASC paid off and we
were announced the best visiting club and in WASC style the traditional OGGIE rang out around the pool.
Special thanks to Sophie Lawson and Finlay Goodman for collecting the trophy on behalf of the club and
swimmers.
