Our students have been very busy working together gathering ideas for a new and improved learning environment. They would like your thoughts, ideas and support in making this wonderful opportunity a reality. If you have any materials, ideas, catalogues or time to help out at school with planning or making items, or perhaps taking a group for a sewing project such as cushion making, please let us know what or when you would be available. Year Three had a wonderful time writing stories this morning with Mrs Meier. Thank you Mrs Meier and all our wonderful parent and community helpers which make our school an amazing community school indeed. Tomorrow we again welcome our Kinder transition students from 11.15 until 3.15! It is lovely to see our new kinders looking more and more at home here at school with each visit. We are planning a milo day thanks to a very kind donation from Mrs Walsh this morning. Good luck to Rosie Collins who is competing in the State Athletics Carnival. We wish Rosie all the best and hope she enjoys every moment of this fabulous experience. Anne-Moore, Principal

STAGE ONE CLASSROOM SURVEY
This week Stage One students will be conducting a survey regarding our classroom design. We will be surveying parents, other students and school staff. Students will bring home the parent survey today. It would be most helpful if you could complete and return the survey by the end of this week. (Friday 17th October, 2014). Thank you… Stage One and Miss McKelvie
FAITH FAMILY ISSUE 40
In this issue there is a large emphasis on looking out for each other and broadening your understanding of what family means. The first page looks at having patience with family members. The next page talks about the challenge of extended family, the importance of it and how we can welcome others in that don’t have their extended families around. The article goes on to talk about families and how they are like trees, growing and changing. All parts of the tree help each other and are important. There is an encouragement to explore your family tree and see what you find.
Other parts of this issue talk about the atmosphere at home what you are going to do about it? Are you going to go with it or change it for the better?
There is a story of a girl and her mother and how it applies to church families today and more talk about family and an encouragement to care for those in need around you.
I hope that you enjoy the read and are encouraged to think about your life and family circumstances and how you can influence it/them for the better.
Thanks
Jeremy Polkinghorne (Matong Public School Chaplain)

INSECT HOTELS On Thursday 18th September all
students participated in the making of our insect hotels. Each
student got a section of the hotel to decorate. Students needed to collect natural and recyclable items that would
encourage insects to live within our environment.
All the students had a great time finding and creating their section. This project was facilitated by our Envirochamps, who did a fantastic job of initiating the idea and design of
the insect hotels.
A big thank you to the parents who helped out by bringing in items from home, and to those who joined us on the day
and assisted the children to create their insect hotels.
If anyone would like to visit the insect hotels they are along the back fence near Mrs Moore’s house.
