Thanks to all our families for the support of your children and St John’s. LUNCHTIME CONCERT TOMORROW THURSDAY Good news! Last week, 2 teams represented Hill at the Franklin Mathex championships at the Town Hall. MUFTI DAYCULTURAL WHO I AM

LUNCHTIME CONCERT TOMORROW THURSDAY

Good news! Tomorrow, Thursday 21 August, the band from Pukekohe Christian School will present a lunchtime concert in our hall.Entry is a gold coin donation which the band will use to help buy new instruments.

ASB FRANKLIN MATHEX SUCCESS

Congratulations! Last week, 2 teams represented Hill at the Franklin Mathex championships at the Town Hall. Competing with 40 other teams we gained an excellent 3rd and 10th place, with this year’s champion team

being Waiau Pa.

Congratulations to Jayden Shaw, Olivia Quarrie, Cory Lansdown and Kyle Davies on gaining third place.

GYMNASTS IMPRESS Congratulations to the Hill gymnastic team who competed in the Franklin Schools competition last week. There were some excellent results including:Year 4 student Abby Johnson performed with poise and grace. Jayden Shaw placed 2nd in bar, 1st in floor, vault and overall.Year 5 students Rylee Barrow came 1st, Maia Johnson 2nd and McKenzie Armitage: 3rd in all apparatus.

WORLD VISION KIDS STAR AT CONCERT

Congratulations to Mrs Bates and our school choir at last night’s Franklin World Vision Kids for Kids Concert with Jackie Clarke. An excellent opportunity for our students to perform on stage with a talented professional entertainer and “make a difference” by raising funds for the work of World Vision.

PARENT ROAD PATROL SUPERVISOR NEEDED

Can you be a Road Patrol hero? A parent road patrol supervisor is urgently needed to help our Ward St student patrollers on Friday mornings.

REMINDER: CHILD RESTRAINT RULES

Our school community officer Constable Gamlen wants to remind families:The law requires all children to be correctly secured in an approved child restraint until they turn eight.

CYCLING AND SCOOTING TO SCHOOL

Project Energise encourages students to keep active and the TravelWise programme encourages students to walk, cycle or scooter to school rather than sitting in a car!Cycling: A reminder that senior students are able to cycle to school from the age of 9 years if parents consider students have the skills and road safety knowledge. Students just need to get a parental permission form from Mr Rix at the office.Scooting: Lots of children scooter to school. There is no age limit, but it’s recommended that parents check the route with children to identify crossings and to discuss any safety matters.

BOARD MEETING NEXT WEEK

The August meeting of your Board of Trustees is next week on Wednesday 27 August at 7.00pm in the staffroom.

These meetings are open to the public and you ae welcome to come along and observe the wide range of items that make up the agenda.

TROPHIES AND CUPS RETURNED PLEASE

Calling all families who had students who were awarded cups and trophies at Prizegivings at the end of 2013.These are now needed back at school as we prepare for Prizegiving 2014.So, please give them a clean and polish and send them back to Mrs Hari in the office as soon as possible.

DAFFODIL DAY COMING SOON

Each year, Hill School supports the Cancer Society’s Daffodil day appeal. Next week on Friday, 29 August, children are encouraged to bring a gold coin donation to school for a class coin trail. Each child who makes a donation will receive a daffodil in appreciation.
