    Gifted for GreatnessDear Parents

We have had a busy term filled with laughter and excitement.

We have embraced our theme Gifted for Greatness by

challenging ourselves to keep setting new goals. Teachers and

the girls have worked together as a team and achieved new

    heights in everything they did;

    - We celebrated our 108th birthday year in style,

    - We won the Spirit Cup for the first time and

    - So many girls will be representing the North West

province at National championships during the holidays.

    - And we have made time for Academics!

Every day was special and I hope that the girls enjoyed the term

as much as I did, but now we look forward to a well-deserved rest.

I hope the time you will be spending with your daughter/s during

the holidays will be filled with as many special moments as ourterm has been. I would like to thank the staff and the girls for

their dedication this term. Thank you to supportive parents and

members of the School Governing Body. Have a wonderful holiday!

    Happy 108th Birthday Girls High!

If payments are made by means of direct banking

or electronic transfers, please fax proof of this to

0866 161 261 and bring it with to registration. All proof of payments MUST indicate the

learners NAME and SURNAME. We will not be

able to identify the payment without the faxed

document and your daughters surname. Pleaseuse standard Finance Fax Format with all

    payments. See Booklet.

NOTE: The hostel has a separate bank account

to that of the school. Please DO NOT pay

hostel fees into the school account or vice

    versa.

We would like to encourage parents to pay the hostel

and school fees directly into the bank account rather

than bringing the cash to school. If payments are madebefore 5 April, parents will be able to collect admission

slips more quickly without having to stand in long

queues. However, payments made after this date may

not be reflected on the account by the 8 April and youmay have to stand in the queue. The full amount as per

your statement is due and no arrangements will be

    made.

    WEEKENDS HOME

A boarding school is a home away from home but it is

not meant to be HOME. Girls MUST go home at least

every 3rd weekend to bond with their own families. Itis not ideal to keep your daughter in the hostel every

weekend, neither is it ideal to allow her to keep visitingfriends. The girls are with their friends all week and

need a break. Please, please parents take yourdaughter home. She needs to see you!

    REQUESTS FOR WEEKEND OUT

    1. On weekends when matches are played or other

school activities take place, girls may only go home

    after the scheduled activity.

    2. On closed weekends there will only be a returnbus on the Sunday evening and not one on the

Friday. The ticket for the return journey must

be bought in the normal way during the weekprior to that weekend.

    3. If a learner is signed out by someone other thanher parents, that person must please have proof

    of identity.

Please use prescribed weekend fax form

    ARRANGEMENTS FOR BOARDERS RETURN

Borders return on Monday 8 April 2013 in full summer

uniform. Offices and hostels will be open from 13h00 to

    17h00

No learners will be admitted to the hostel without

payment in full of the 2nd term Hostel fees as well

as School fees up to the end of April NOALTERNATIVE ARRANGEMENTS will be accepted

NO LATE ARRIVALS - Parents will have to taketheir daughters home and return them the next

day if they are late. This also applies to girls

arriving by taxi after the hostel has closed There is no bus service on this day PLEASE NOTE No supper will be provided for the

girls on their return to hostel on this day

    WINTER UNIFORM AND HAIR STYLES

We will change over to winter uniform during the

first week in May. Please check uniforms for size toenable you to purchase the correct uniform.

Hags Boutique is open every Monday. All girls MUST have tracksuits. Tracksuit pants

must be shortened and be the correct length. Some

pants are too long causing the pants to be walked on

resulting in torn pants hemlines. This is very untidy. Girls are still colouring their hair during the

holidays and it is not appropriate or acceptable. There are also definite rules regarding braiding

which are not followed. Pierced tongues, eyebrowand nose rings, dyed hair, shaved hair, dreadlocks

and visible tattoos are contrary to our code ofdress and are not condoned.

Only Girls High school jerseys may be worn.Stretched and tattered jerseys must be replaced.

Clothing and personal possessions: All items must

be clearly marked with your daughters name and

laundry number where necessary. PLEASE dont use

stick on labels as they wash off.

    BUS TICKETS

Tickets for Midway Bus Service can be bought from

our Finance office every Tuesday and Wednesday

afternoon from 14h00 to 16h00. No arrangements willbe made after a Wednesday afternoon. Proof ofdeposit, indicating bus fare with your daughters name

and surname, must be faxed to the office. Parentsalso have the option of paying the entire terms bus

fares at the beginning of each term. Girls can also payat school via their bank/debit cards and therefore do

not have to go to the ATM to draw money for the bus

ticket. This will help to reduce the possibility of theft.
