Principal’s Message Kia ora e te Whānau As we se&le back down from the glitz and glamour of our Produc9on, we return to the normal learning in our school life and reestablish class rou9nes. Once again, we thank the community for the overwhelming feedback we have received. As a staff, we have had a review (PMI) of the performance and will work out a suitable 9meframe for the next one. At this stage it will either be every 2 or 3 years, as it is a huge undertaking. Next term we have some larger school events, in which we would love to see you invovled. Athle9cs days (both at Ladbrooks school), Pets Day, the Bre& Murray Parent Evening, Spencer Park, Prizegiving and the Year 8 Leaver’s Assembly. Please add these to your busy diaries now! Spring is here, the buds are out and the sun is shining, which makes for a posi9ve outlook heading into the last week of term. We do love parents involvement in school, so please let us know if you have any ideas that can make our school even be&er. My door is open and the jug is boiling! 21st – 24th September 2015

Family motivation in reading activities have a strong, positive impact on a child’s educational achievement. The Scholastic Book Fair is our school’s pop-up bookshop event

that will enable a hands on experience where children can discover a love of books and ignite a life long passion for reading.

Book Fair Open Hours – at the Broadfield Hall Monday 8:30 - 9:30am 2:30pm - 3:30pm Tuesday 8:30 - 9:30am 2:30pm - 3:30pm Wednesday 8:30 - 9:30am 2:30pm - 3:30pm Thursday 8:30 - 9:30am 2:30pm - 3:30pm Your child will visit the book fair on Monday morning and bring home a ‘wishlist’ of books that they like the look of. This book fair is an opportunity for you to purchase books for your own children, as well as an opportunity to buy a book to donate to the school library. We will have a list of books you can purchase for the library if you wish. You can pay by cash, cheque or credit card (you just need to fill in all the details on a form).

A percentage of all book sales go towards more books for our school library.

Book Character Day Wednesday the 23rd September will see Broadfield School full of children dressed up as characters from books. Please get your costumes ready now so you look amazing on the day! No donation is required for this as it is part of our book week. We will have a parade of the classes at 9:10am (after the roll). Book Quiz As part of our book week the senior librarians have created a quiz. This is a fun event that involves all the children. It will be held on Wednesday after lunch. Visitors We have organised for some librarians from the Selwyn Library to come and talk to the children. This will happen on Wednesday as well! Year 1-4 children are at 10:15am and the Year 5-8 children are at 11:30am.

See you there, Miss Watson
