Dear Parents/Carers,
Next week is Education Week and we are looking for-
ward to several special activities. Please come along
and join in with the fun. More information can be
found on the back of the newsletter.
School Council has designated Monday 31st May as a
pupil-free day. The Department of Education and
Early Childhood Development have determined that a
day can be used by schools for student assessment and
reporting or professional development purposes. On
this day the teachers will be participating in profes-
sional learning and finalising reports. In 2010 there will be an additional “one-off” pupil-
free day for all government schools on August 9th
2010. This special purpose pupil-free day is provided
to schools to support the implementation of the Ultra-
net – a major DEECD initiative.
As mentioned on last weeks newsletter, School Coun-
cil, after a lengthy consultation with the City of
Greater Bendigo and VicRoads will be trialling some
changes to the parking arrangements out the front of
the school. In summary:
The 90 degree parking adjacent to the oval will
be altered to include a drop off/pick up lane
The parking over the road will revert to ‘Staff
Only” due to the danger of crossing the road
between parked cars
The parking immediately outside the school will
remain as is
Please refer to the attached map for further clarifica-
tion. School Council will be monitoring the situation
closely over several weeks and will keep the school
community informed as to the status of the arrange-
ments.
Thank you for your ongoing cooperation and patience
in our endeavours to increase the safety of the stu-
dents.
Regards
Kerry McGuffie

Websmart This weeks rules to discuss at home are -
16. I agree to think carefully about what I read on the internet, question if it is from a reliable source and use the information to help me answer any questions (I should not copy and paste the information as my answer)
Who wrote the website and are they a known person or
group. Anyone can put things on the internet. Look at the
domain name and see if it has .com .org .gov or .edu as
these can give a clue as to the status of the site. Also using
other people's writing and pictures is a breach of copy-
right. Search programs are used by markers to detect the
use of other's writing. There are even websites that allow
you to put in the text or picture and it will find it on the
internet. So therefore the next rule is necessary. 9. When using information from the WWW I will take note of the site I have used for my information and give credit for this in my work or ask for help to get the owner’s permission to use information or pictures from the inter- net.
Our school has registered for „See the Person
Week” organised by SCOPE. They are a dis-
ability service offering a range of services for
people with disabilities and are conducting a
fundraiser.
Fundraising wrist bands are available for $2
from the office.
Prep Parent 2011 Information Evening
We will be conducting an information session for
new families for 2011 on Monday, 17th May at
7pm.
This information session will be repeated on Tues-
day, 26th July for those families who couldn’t make

the above activities :
